Clan Is Mechs Equal, But Not A Equal Cost?

3 replies to this topic

Poll: PGI wants Clan Heavy/ Assaults to be balanced against Clan Mechs (H / A), but the price for Clan Heavies / Assaults are 2x the price of similar IS mech weight classes. (2 member(s) have cast votes)

Adjust C_Bill cost of Clan Heavy/ Assaults to the cost of competative Inner Sphere Heavies/ Assault Mechs, since PGI is Balancing Clan vs Inner Sphere to be Equal

  2. No, Clan Heavies, Assaults are still unbalanced against Inner Sphere Mechs. (1 votes [50.00%])

Ops Title suppose to read "Clan and IS mechs Equal, but cost not equal for clan mediums, heavies and assaults?"

So PGI is trying to implement the Clan mechs to be equal to be IS mechs in a balanced way.

So why the heck does it cost so much for a direwolf mech compared to a clan or the cost of a King Crab?

---> Make the cost of the Mechs per weight Chasis similar be either...

-Raising the cost of IS Mechs, but include the XL preinstalled for lights and medium, heavies or assaults that would normally have them to make them competitive.

< OR >

Lower the cost of Clan Assaults/Heavies similar to that of IS Assaults/Heavies.

It does not make any sense for a Direwolf to be be nearly 2x price of a King Crab if its suppose to be balanced against a IS King Crab Mech.

All Clan mechs come with DHS and an XL engine pre-installed. Some of them have Endo and/or FF too. Very few IS mechs are like this, so their base cost is cheaper. Buy necessary upgrades and an XL engine drives up the cost of IS mechs significantly.

Kaeb pretty much nailed it. Clan tech comes with all the upgrades preinstalled. The biggest difference is paying up front vs paying over time (or a bunch of smaller payments).

Comparison of cost after modification
Atlas / King Crab - most builds I see run about 16 mil CB give or take a few mil.
Dire Wolf - most run about 19-20 mil CB.

Thunderbolt - about 9, maybe 10 mil.
Hellbringer - about 14.5-15 mil.

Shadow Hawk - 9-12 mil.
Stormcrow - 11.5-13 mil.

Firestarter - 9.5-10 mil.
Arctic Cheetah - 7.5-8 mil.
