First, let me start with I didn't want to post in the new users sub forum so I figured GD was runner up based on the questions I have. I'm(as many of us are) a huge mechwarrior buff however some of the game dynamics and relative nature of garage based PvP games eventually lead me to several breaks. I probably have roughly 10k archived matches but much less since 2.0. I've left back to Firefall where I'm a community organizer of PvP tournaments.

So, now that we're launching on steam (congrats to PGI btw) I have some general questions from where I left off (about two months after launch of community warfare)

First regarding leaving a match after death. How does this affect your stats? Same as always?

Whats the ELO in regards to clan/IS balence in matchmaking?

I herd you can vote on maps now, is this all maps or a few preterimed maps? Or a skip list like Halo for example? I'm just wondering this because wouldn't everyone abounden balence heat builds and their heat sinks just to play on cold maps?

As far as community warfare goes... is laser vomit still a thing? I know the IS eventually counter balenced by the 12 man 'LL stalker boats which was equally as annoying, anything done about any of this?

Next, I remember our second engagement with the Combine when peace talks broke down between the two leaderships, when we finally got an attack lane open my unit (1st free world guards) spent that entire night, maybe 5-6 hours in a string of victories.when the attack phase ended well into the middle of the night, the player base as expected dip down to pug fighting only. I awoke the next day to find that we had lost terra and had been pushed back deep.

Can you still ghost drop to planet victory if you have groups that patient and dedicated?

Lastly, although I plan to stay for awhile I was wondering since I chose the permanent contract with the Free Worlds League, is it actually permanent or what?

Other than this main things, still one of the best games ever and one of my favorite communities ever. I'm sure some of you will recognize me from closed beta days.
Thank you for your time!

AFAIK, leaving a match has the same effect on your stats as it has had for a long time now. Note that leaving a match before your mech has been destroyed now carries a penalty. This was instituted not long ago, check the patch notes.

Elo is gone. It has been replaced with the Pilot Skill Rating (PSR) system. 5 tiers, 5 is the lowest, 1 the highest. New players and players (and players with no real match history since January) default to high tier 4. Tiers 4 and 5 are not grouped with tiers 1 and 2 in the solo queue. In group queue there are tonnage limits based upon the number of people in your team, the smaller the team the more flexible your weight min/max is. (The idea is that to compensate for less coordination the teams made of multiple smaller groups will usually have a tonnage advantage over teams made of 1-3 larger groups.) Clan and Inner Sphere tech is treated no differently for these purposes, as Clan tech is meant to be more of a side-grade than an upgrade in MWO (big rebalance has been coming for months to fix some of the remaining disparity, we'll see how it goes).

Map voting is done from a choice of 4 random maps. Cold maps usually win the vote, though sometimes Tourmaline Desert wins out over cold options (most likely due to longer engagement ranges and more interesting terrain).

CW stuff I can't really speak on. IMX, a CW match alternates between sniping and rushes, and I just got bored with it.

Oh yes, laser vomiting is still here. Stalker-4N laser quirks are nerfed though. Soon to be followed by TDR-5SS nerfs and DRG-1N nerfs.
