I have an idea for a new game mode.. so I thought I'd share it with you guys..

The mode name is Warpath.

Usable for pugs, groups, or CW.. (As PGI sees fit)

It basically consists of two similar themed maps that are played consecutively.

1) The first map would be sort of an asymmetric assault where you would get one mech per drop and the goal would be to capture / defend the enemy base. Mechanically speaking, it would play like Assault now, but with only one base, and the base would have turrets. There would also be two command structures - A turret control tower also protected by turrets, and a supply depot also protected by turrets.

If the attackers capture the depot, they get the ability to drop a second (preselected) mech after the first is destroyed.
If the attackers destroy the Turret control tower, all the turrets in the second and third drops are disabled.

If the defenders capture the depot, they get to one-shot repair the mechs they are dropped in.

2) The second map would be a standard CW-invasion type engagement, but with only 2 mechs per drop. If the attackers lost the first engagement, the gates are closed as normal. If they won the first match, the gates are open and the gate turrets are destroyed.

If the turret control tower was destroyed, all the turrets are dead. Whichever team captured the supply depot in the first match gets to reuse all consumables (2 uses of each instead of one).

The attackers must destroy the orbital cannon, but there are no o-gens. Instead, the orbital cannon has twice the hit points it has now.

The whole Warpath lasts 2 x 15 minutes.

Possible map combinations:

1) Caustic Valley + Sulphurous rift
2) HPG Network + Vitric Forge
3) Alpine peaks + Boreal Vault
4) Canyon network + Hellbore springs
5) Frozen City + Boreal Vault
6) Terra Therma + Grim Portico

Would make for some interesting tactics no?

I like the idea of combining similar maps to create a sense of a real battle/campaign.

My concerns would be with the game turning into another flavor of skirmish and with how painful it'd be if your team is obviously inferior to the other team. You already start with the disadvantage, then the better team gets buffed for round 2? Ouch.

Well the base premise is that an invading force is at somewhat of a disadvantage (like in a real invasion situation against a prepared enemy), but this disbalance is not that great..

And its not like pug's anuses don't squeeze already when they see the drop is gonna be 12 skittles Vs. 12 unit premade..

CW isn't fair now much either..

And the "awesome" team, weather on attack or defense would basically only get 2 x consumables. I've seen plenty of people not even use the ones they have..

Its actually quite clever and realistic.. because in a realistic campaign, you would get to use captured resources and your actions would have consequences..

The fact that you suck... well.. if you suck, you suck in regular cw too.. so not much concern there.. :P
