You took an extremely terrible mech and made it worse.

Some things about the Protector.

1) It is a mixed weapon mech. It can't afford alot of heatsinks. (both weight and slots) Taking away the heat quirk hurts it, ALOT.

2) It has terrible mount locations. You nerfed the quirks that sort of mitigate this, laser duration and range.

3) You increased gauss cooldown from 4 to 5.5, but only increased the gauss quirk by 5% cooldown? That's another large blow to relative performance of this mech, compared to where it was previously already being terrible.

4) You increased missile velocity on a mech that has terrible SRM mount locations while nerfing missile cooldown.

5) You added some CT structure on a mech that already had massive structure quirks and was still bad.

6) You added Accel and Deaccel on a mech that has a bad model where ragdoll locations can be aimed at from nearly any direction.

What exactly do you want this mech to do?
I seriously regret buying this thing because you can't make up your minds about what kind terrible mech you want it to be.

I was also disappointed with this Mech when I originally bought it. I managed to find a build that worked for me (1Gauss, 2LRM5's, 2ERLL's). I am also disappointed with the changes to this Mech on the PTS. Very low mounts on anything but the missile hardpoints would make me think that you'd beef up the side torsos, not the CT.

They did make it worse. The energy heat generation and laser range it had was really nice. And its gone :(

I really don't see the reason to nerf the Protector - it at least somehow worked as it was, yet still was just OK... why?

I enjoyed the Protector as a mini atlas brawler with AC20, SRM, and Medium Lasers.

I don't know why PGI is so intent on forcing the Gauss onto it. I prefer to run with AC10 over Gauss, and use the weight savings for more heatsinks and a bigger engine to get in range.

IS-Gauss is not as useful as Clan Gauss, since we don't get free CASE in our torso's and it already costs 3 more tons to carry it. We are also spending 2x the slots on endo / ferro, and our XL engines will kill us if we lose a torso.

The Protector should also have PPC quirks to emulate Kerensky's Snub Nose PPC. I suppose minus heat and plus speed. Anyway that's the Lore and Hero mechs are based on the Lore correct?

The Orion also does not brawl well due to the model and hitbox arrangement so better long range is an option that would help.

I concur. The Protector should be quirked out for PPC and Gauss with a slight increase in structure buffs to alleviate the knuckle-dragging. The heat reduction quirk should also make a return.
