OK. Since this last patch, I've been disconnected from the game countless times. Sometimes it's my connection. Other times, my connection's fine, but I get disconnected anyway. Each time this happens, I have to wait to join a new game. Even if I rejoin the game, and finish it, I still get the penalty.

So. Here's some advice for PGI. Not everyone has a good internet connection. The game is not perfect and disconnects people for no reason. There is nothing I can do about this, yet I'm being forced to wait to play this damn game. So, Get rid of that damn disconnect penalty!

Sincerely;

Did you email support? Did you contact your ISP? Are you using an ethernet connection?

Does it matter? It's a terribly bad idea from PGI. The masters of F*CKUPS. My penalty is over ten minutes now. For something that's beyond my control. Most of the time, my internet connection behaves itself. But yesterday, I had two disconnects during a single drop. I logged back in, finished the game with two kills and three assists, and I still got the penalty. PGI! Get rid of it. You'll be losing a lot of players if you don't.

It's harsh on those like you who aren't disconnecting deliberately.

However, something has to be done to the selfish people who disconnect deliberately and cause 11 people to lose and a further 12 to have less of a fun time.

I suggest emailing Support and asking them to reset your penalty.

Regarding your disconnects: there haven't been widespread reports of connection issues since the last patch. That suggests the problem is with your PC/network/ISP. I suggest you start looking at your ping during matches (F9) and see if it's fluctuating wildly, suggesting packet loss.

At the very least, they should remove the penalty if you manage to log back in and finish the game. Or put a cap on it. Say two minutes. As I said, mine is over ten minutes now. Does it keep climbing? Will I eventually be waiting three hours for my next drop?

Part of the deliberate discos is the fact PGI has FORCED game modes on us that we don't want to play. It's part and parcel.

All I want from PGI is the ability to choose my map, game mode, and to customize my mech for both. Is that too much to ask for?

I don't think PGI cares about the loyal customers who got them here. They knew some customers with bad connections, and the MWO client, would cause disconnects and trigger the penalty. They knew this system of no freedom of choice would piss us off. They tried it before months ago and saw the backlash. But they did it anyway and added the penalty (razor wire fence) to force us to stay in and play a mode we hate to play. Instead of listening to us and making things right, I think it's clear they only care about the Steam party and all those new customers (suckers) who don't know any better. PGI knows for every customer who gets feed-up and quits there are maybe 10 more coming from Steam. I've already walked away and my friends are doing the same. But I keep hoping PGI dose the right thing and give us back our choice and remove this stupid penalty. But honestly, I know they won't and I don't think they care.

It's easy to claim the game kicks you or it's the internet connection, when someone doesn't want to play a certain map or gamemode.
Contact you ISP or fix the connection on your end. In most cases, when you dc you are dead after relogging anyway, so you can't play properly as long as this issue persists. A penalty is the least problem here.

On another note, the reporting screen is providing a great opportunity to report players that deliberately suicide cause they don't like the map or game mode.

No regrets.

The auto penalty needs to go, there is a manual system for people that disco on purpose this auto system does not detect people that deliberately walk out of bounds, or use override of masc to deliberately over heat.

First reason for it to go.

Do you really think PGI that steam people with nothing but a casual interest in stompy robots are going to stay when your unstable game forces them to take a five minute penalty, because they simply won't stay.

Secondly

Do you want to have people in this game quit or cancel Pre orders because the game hung up at a match launch ?

Because i'm getting very close to cancelling the rest of my pre orders, I'm just running the repair tool (again) because your game keeps hanging, if it hangs a third time penalising me.

I shall certainly not bother with the game again today, and if this continues this week you will be losing the $165 for the unseen mechs I'm really tired of this, and stupid additions like this are sucking away any desire to continue playing this game.

The game hangs, I have this trouble with no other platform, just PGI's it has always been pgi, they pay for cheap routing then penalise us, because they spread themselves so thin with Regonal servers.

the penalty is reset every 4 hours, so it is probably not worth contacting support, but it is highly annoying if you crash a few times

usualy my internet connection is really good, it had been about a year since my last disconnect until last Monday when I found myself unable to connect to matches on the EU server.

And yet are a lot players, if not most, able to play with little to no issues.

Unrelated to the Auto Penalty which appears to be your focus in this but something which helped me regarding discos which may help you/others:

PVN. I use Okay Freedom (free for long enough to check whether this helps or not). I went from my ISP's Traffic Management/Throttling causing evening gaming to be a roulette wheel of discos & crazy pings, to 100% happy times, unless of course I forget to turn it on. Barely even added to my ping.

Did ask if this were an issue for PGI & never heard that I wasn't safe to carry on. I'm with EE (in the UK) with a pretty good speed, but a PVN is the only way I'm able to play of an evening thanks to my ISP.

Hope it helps someone.

Yeah... it was less then a minute in match.....I was at point....my lance behind me.... I turned a corner and 6 enemy mechs stomped on me so hard... I think I was a pool of metal when they was done....bam....sudden death in less then a minute of play...... and yes..you guessed it...when I tried to start a new match with a different mech...i was penalized......shrugs.... yet another problem that has risen from quick, untested fixes....... and...once again.. as with the Vote Problem... PGI has remained quiet.....Ohhhh except to let us know about the new packages...or the update on the Stream party.....its all about priorities....which they have lost site of....... Oh well, more customers are not playing. or cancelling orders....or just uninstalling all together...... but hey thats ok....the influx of new stream customers will make up for the loses more then enough.....right?....pfft

Psst...PGI...at the very least you should take your Founders problems seriously..they are, after all, the ones that help you get here.....now.... your... well, pushing them away.... is this a plan or are you just that blind?....just wondering?.... back to your regularly scheduled forum....
