There is only a single competitive Clan Assault mech.

There are several competitive IS Assault mechs chassis - and multiple competitive viable variants within those chassis.

Competitive players only need the best--variety is the least of their concerns. Assaults are not the prime competitive class anyway. What matters is the number of Clan mechs used in the tournament vs the number of IS mechs used in the tournament, and the numbers clearly show that the Clan mechs have been used the majority of the time.

And only reason Battlemasters might see comp play is because the STK-4N was nerfed in the first place. And the 4N is nerfed again in the PTS4! Same nerfs happened to the TDR-5SS in the PTS4, giving the Clans undisputed domination in the Heavy class, despite the fact that there are far more IS Heavy chassi than Clan Heavies.
