Changes From 6 Months Ago?

I took a break from the game for about 6 months due to getting married, redoing my house etc.
The upcoming event caught my eye and I'm probably going to get back into the game again.
Can anyone give me a brief precis of what's changed from 6 months ago? When I stopped playing I remember that major changes were on the PTS and people were up in arms, all quirks were going to be removed or something like that.
Did that happen? Something else?
Thanks for any advice, and see you on the battlefield.

Not much else. They are ignoring CW and still have the one game mode TDM (called three things) but voting means you see ~4 maps and 2 game modes (which are identifical)

- Updates to Mechwarrior Academy (if this wasn't around, check it out, click the Tutorials button on the left after you log in and play through the tut)
- PSR arrived, which is a new rating to give you a tier rating and to match you with players that operate on the same skill level as you (at least, that's the intent)
- As a result of PSR, new way match score is acquired. More things add to your match score, (the intent is to create a system that rewards team work. Thus: better team work > Higher match score > climbing the PSR ladder)
- Mauler is here!
- 4th game mode on the way apparently.
- Map redo's: Most recent was Caustic Valley (before that it was Forest Colony, and River City). Alpine is next in line i believe.
- Rebalance coming next month (mechs, skill trees)
- New voting system for match making. Game mode selection and random map distribution were scrapped infavor for the ability to vote on the map and game mode you want to play. The intent was to reduce wait times, and let people choose the map.
- New camo selection screen. Makes it a lot easier to use. You can see all your colours at once, no more scrolling! Hovering over colours will preview the colour on your mech so you don't have to click on every colour just to see what it looks like.
- Dynamic Mech Portaits in the Mech lab - When you save a mech, it will save a snap-shot of what the mech looks like and update the thumbnail in the mechlab. Allows you to colour code mechs, see their camo, or visually see the weapons equipped.

The game is being released on STEAM on Dec 10th, or so they are saying. That should prove "interesting".

People were complaining about OP clan laser boats so they gave the timby and crow more energy hard points.
People also apparently thought the Firestarter was OP so they made a clan Firestarter with more firepower, more range, better jump jets, just as fast and with ECM.

Thanks PGI
I dropped in it about a dozen times and had mainly ST deaths. I think the only solutions are the old hit boxes with a stubbier nose or armor quirks.

Correct the Old hit boxes with CT Armor/Structure buffs. But PGI does not listen to people who actually understand the game and their mechs

sounds like the new maps and voting system are the main thing, with big changes afoot for the start of December.
I'll check out those patch notes, cheers.
