Things You Wish (Knowing It's Not Even A Possibility...) Were Going To Be In Before Steam Release

1. CHAT rebuild. The game's chat system is an abysmal joke. There is very little MMO in our little MWO because the community features are atrociously under-developed. I'm really confused why we haven't seen an improved chat feature enter the game after all this time. I can't think of a single game of this nature that has a worse chat system. I'm not trying to be rude...but it's just beyond rudimentary (and buggy as can be). There's not even help chat for new players. Imagine how nice it would be to have a channel where players could actually ask questions about the confusing parts of the game or channels where they can argue about mech builds and what not. Or channels where they can find groups to play with or units/clans to join. It's just bizarre.
2. Game mode improvements. There's VERY little difference between the 3 core game modes (non CW). It seems that improving them would take very little effort when you consider that this is basically what the vast majority of us do every drop.
3. Proper rankings. PSR doesn't really work. It's not a way to match up similarly skilled players so much as a way to slowly grind yourself into different groupings. Basically if you're not really bad you'll eventually hit tier 1. That's not a ranking system. It's a grind meter. Sure...it's a little better than ELO given the game mechanics, but I'm not sure why we don't use a proper metric of some sort. It's difficult to really nail things down perfectly, but can it really be so tricky to put something useful into place? As a side note, I'd really love to see who the good players are on my team. I'm not sure why people are so afraid to have their tier show. (This would be more meaningful it it was a true skill measurement, but I digress...) I'd love to see on the stats page what tiers my allies were so I knew who to follow and have at least some idea who might need more help and advice in a given match. Seeing the enemies tiers after would also be nice.
That's pretty much it. I mean, sure there are a million things I wish were in MWO already, but those are the 3 things that off the top of my head seem really important that still aren't in the game. (#4 would probably be a way to test your VOIP setup to see if anyone can hear you. Or a CW that tied into some sort of economy or something that might make it meaningful. haha)
What about you guys?

Scale of mechs needs tuning and game modes are a must.

MG CoF removal and 1 DPS
2.5 dam for isSRMs
Magic Jesus Field reduction to infinity-200 to infinity -400 (set 'targetingfactor' to 0.5 instead of 0.25)
Of course, it's FAR too much to hope for they'd actually edit those variables in time for a patch...and that makes me sad. These changes could all be edited within 2 minutes, then patched along with the regular schedule.

Hell no.
I don't know how many times I've lost a fight because a bunch of mechs chickened out and pulled back from the firing line. When we criticized them for hiding, the actually had the cheek to reply "at least we're alive" which is quite possibly the dumbest retort ever.
Player who don't hold the firing line get their teammates killed. With half the team dead, the survivors are just going to be mopped up unless they're really that good. We let them surrender, a good number of games are going to end with a firing line that crumbled followed by a bunch of surrenders.
All just to protect someone's precious KDR.
No thanks.
Not unless such surrenders count as a death on their ratio anyway.

In that case, they'd better take away that KD ratio stat, ASAP, as it literally means jack %&$#, compared to W/L.

Meh, being accompanied by 11 Derps in the PUG LIFE isn't exactly indicative of skill either. When half fail to deal 200 damage at least 25% of the time (edging on half), it's pretty bad to base performance on.

And better map/command functionality.

The removal of alpha strikes. Everything is chain fired, no matter how many buttons you push at the same time or the magical macro you set up on your keyboard.
More ammo per ton.
Heat scale rework, with actual heat penalties that have an effect on Mech performance.
Direct fire and indirect fire trajectories for LRMs.
SRM lock on and rudimentary tracking.
Reduced number of available engine ratings per Mech to make Mech load outs more challenging.
Community Warfare rewards for everyone, even a paltry 10% collection rate for solo PuG drops. Give us a reason to care.
Reduced rate of fire on the heavier weapons.
More lore scattered throughout the game. The history of the franchise has hardly been scratched here.
Mirrored armour values for right torso/left torso, right arm/left arm to prohibit players stacking weapons on one side.
Signature weapons and weapon quirks that reward a player for playing a stock or close to stock load out. So disappointing to see the immediate cannibalization of Mechs. I fully expect to see Warhammers with the arms empty and the PPCs tucked into the torso upon release. Such a disappointment there, too.

2) Player stats being accessible from the game directly as opposed to needing to log onto the website.
3) Growth and expansion of sim-like features, role warfare, info warfare, electronic warfare.
4) Rescaling to have already taken place at least for the Top 5, with a surprise announcement the team will proceed to rescale the next 10 runner ups.
5) Heat Scale Rework
Lastly, Mcgral being hired to be in-charge of game balance.
... I can dream, right?

CW could use some attention because by having so many IS factions noone is really playing for Clans have noone to fight because community is split. Should be somehow addressed by CW3 but that might take a while.
Give MCs for holding a planet. Or tons of c-bills or anything. But make holding planets worth it!
Expansion of role warfare.
More weapons - Arrow IV, tech from later years... anything.
Customizeable dropships for units. Let us pay for different drop ship models or something.

You know the when the Steam crowd hears that it has been a dead skill unlock for over 2 years they are going to nail them for that.
