Maybe a simple numerical counter somewhere on the dashboard that can be 1/12th the size of the current monitor???

I'd prefer arabic numerals to a McDonalds Cash Register, too.
And it's more versatile... what happens in CW when you get that 13th kill?

I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like. It looks more like a mech fossil from initial glance.

I like that the monitors add some life to the cockpit. For me the kill counter is useless. I'm more of an assist player. So it rarely lights up for me

Well, there would be a lot of place for assists if that screen was made with normal letters and numbers. Hell, there would also be a place for structures (turrets) and/or some other mock info.

I consider it to be a free interactive cockpit item that I have installed in any mech I own..

The IS monitors should have a discrete retro 80/90s screen look and be a lot calmer and at least look like they could be informative. The clan monitors could look more modern, but still should be simple and informative, not some hodgepodge mess of flashing numbers and stuff.
And a kill counter is probably the least immersive function possible to pick for the first real monitor info. What kind of real military vehicle, real or imagined, has a god damn kill counter? I mean I don't require some kind of hardcore realism in a goofy 80s sci-fi setting, but it should at least be somewhat believable within that setting.
