Suggestion.. cockpit monitors should show what modules are equipped on the mech, as well as BAP, Targeting Computers and other useful info like this.

The Alpha power your mech has and 'current damage inflicted' displays would be nice too.

What other suggestions can you guys make?

Actually using the cockpit monitors for useful information would add much to immersion.

*did someone say digital rear-view cam?

As much as I would love to see a rear-view camera feed on a monitor I'm pretty sure there's some sort of technical limitation with scaleform. Last time we saw this brought up was when the advanced zoom module was being played around with, where the initial design of it was to have only the view within the frame zoomed in and the rest at normal FOV/zoom. But apparently telling scaleform to draw two unique POVs at a time puts too much stress on the machine so that idea was canned and advanced zoom is as it is now.

As far as suggestions, I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of Weather/Time of Day display in there. And to piggyback off of OPs idea I'd like to see maybe a breakdown of the weapon groups, how much heat is generated and how much (potential) damage per trigger pull per group. Maybe a moving heat over time graph would be cool too.

I'm happy though that there's finally something in those things, it's been a good while.

I think one of the monitors should show when and how many mechs are locked onto your mech. At the moment there is a quiet little bleep when you are locked into but something on one of the screens would be nice.

For pure display, a comms channel with a little face icon when a player speaks on VOIP.
For something interactive, a command menu would be nice.
One of them could be the battlegrid display... minimised as it were.
Mission objectives and status.

Yeah, they'd already done the rear-view etc monitors if those were feasible. I understand that this engine isn't so good with multiple views. The other stuff would be very welcome, but in general it should be useful extra information, not absolutely vital stuff. Not all the monitors are easily visible for everyone. I would personally love to have an option to move most of the elements in the HUD to those monitors, but I have head tracking and can turn my head to see those monitors clearly.

Sensor range and condition of those components that are not shown in the weapons list, yes. More obvious display of missile bay doors than those little lights, lance and company mech condition monitor and perhaps a more limited one for targeted enemies, base and friendly objective status monitor (if they are being capped by enemy, it shows how many cappers there are).

This idea is great.. and you know what.. it is a potential money maker for pgi. They can now DISPLAYS in the cockpit item store where you can buy stuff like that.. retro games playing on monitors.. various pictures like the peace symbol or faction symbols... dam, they can even sell 'monitor modules' for cbills that will make them more useful and actually do some of the stuff suggested above!

THIS IS A WHOLE UNTAPPED MARKET PGI!

LOVE this idea and adds much to immersion! BRILLIANT

These are all great ideas! Keep them coming and I'm sure PGI will take notice! There is so much potential here for added immersion!

One of the monitors should show the ground under your mech. Could you imagine the power of being able to see the tiny little bump that's hung up your mech?

Kill Assists is a good idea.
Damage Inflicted is nice as well.
The VoIP idea is nice, but could get out of hand in actual play. Testing needed Posted Image

UAV Countdown (Until expiration)
Running match status (top killers / damage dealers each side)

Target and last known Status - when a target is scouted, outside of ECM, it is added to the list Example:
A (as in Alpha) = Arctic Cheetah Prime (I) - 88%
B = Commando 2D - 72%
C = Heavy Metal - 95%
D = Marauder 3R (S) - 82%
...

Percentages ONLY change if the target is locked. Gives new people a reason to lock onto targets. Also, if possible, friendly mech cannot update team with target status while under the effect of ECM - if they die, no update.

I'm sure I'll come up with more...

- hud monitors which are toggleable them with mouse
- and/or switch one to an other real monitor
- animation to zoom to the monitor showing the eg. battlegrid like at drop start
- one for battlegrid
- one for status of installed modules
- one for scoreboard or other stats like DMG / assists done 8)

a small rear camera would be nice
well actually the best thing would be to have all these huds on a dropdown list, and place whichever you want on the monitors in your cockpit. for example, i want enemy mech information on the bottom right screen of my hunchback, so i place it there, and maybe map on top right monitor... This way, mechs with lots of monitors blocking their view will have an advantage

I do hope someone from PGI is following this little thread.. these ideas are too good to be ignored/forgotten and will do much to increase depth into this game, something this game needs.

that repeated animation of circle and random numbers just hurts my eyes and it pisses me off so much. looks so ugly and who ever the art direction let the artists make that change should be shot.

Well, aside of me missing old monitors showing heatsinks (And if possible, upgraded due to water submerging) and ammo (Would be nice after some explosions to see where last half-ton of ammo left) it would be good to see any broken/disabled equipment. For example, that BAP being suppressed, TC, MASC and other stuff being out of picture etc.
It would help to have a better, colorblind-friendly two bulb weapon door indicator.

Would be nice to have data on other guys in a lance
—Direction arrow
—Range in meters
—Their armaments
Let's say, for lasers:

Red laser icon with one dot below to show smalls

Green with two dots for meds

Blue with 3 dots for larges

Blinking versions for pulses.

For missiles, it's generic missile icon with:

Line for SRMs

3 dots for LRMs

Blinking without extras for SSRMs

For ballistics:

3 rounds for machine guns

2 rounds for UACs

Shrapnel cone for LBXs

Single diagonal shell for AC/10 and AC/20

Single diagonal shell with "confetti" for Gauss Rifles

Single vertical shell for AC/2 and AC/5
