How long have IS been saying that Clanners had a bit of an advantage.. Not huge, but top mechs, all people that are claners with a bit of an edge..

Personally, i never, ever blamed, any loss on a clan, or mech,... And honestly i run what people say are teir 3 or soo... Pretty much the only mechs i ever run that people said were top, sure i have run a tdr-5SS, and misery but most of my mechs most say are all mid range, according to the top guys..

Now, a bit of a change, and god forbid i loos a tiny bit of maneuvering for loosing a ST, and WAAAAAAAAAA

Now, the talk is, all the top players, are all switching to IS.. I don't get it.. Don't you want a challenge? Don't you want to run a mech that is maybe even and still rule???

To me, if i was a top guy,, I really wouldn't want a nerf... But what i would really want is to take my awesome 12 man, and destroy, 15 or 20 man teams... But to complain that if i loose a torso, and get a bit slower,, and then blame it on that??

come on clanners....keep your clan group, and run a single weekend and give PGI some real data Or is it, that possibly you don't think you can win?

I'm sorry. but to me that is just lame.. If all the top groups are really top groups, on clan side.. why don't you run clan for this weekend.. Not, im going IS, cause i don't have an advantage..

I just don't get it. Please don't puss out, and swap to IS, because you think they now are the better side..

Is one bad weekend, all that bad??? If the top clans, all of a sudden get owned.. Don't ya think that would be better for the game in the long run, verse saying... Well clans suck, im going IS... Just to win?? If the top guys just get owned.. Don't ya think that would be much better data, then all them just rolling to IS, just to get more wins???

I am not calling out anyone, or any team, or and clan.. but i am saying what i have heard through the grape vine.. and to me.. i just find it very lame....

If i am wrong.. Please post why... and if you are a top group staying clan... I salute you

My unit (SA) though not a top unit at all has been Permanent CSJ since Beta 1...

So again...what units? MS? Just MERCs in general? Because thats what they do, they flip flop. Also as far as i can tell the IS outnumbered the clans long before the announcement of the event and the Dec 1st patch.

Like since the last tukayyid event. We will see come tomorrow though that is for sure!

Right now many units are changing factions. Two reasons. First: Marauder is out and as always some Clan units switch sides in order to try them out in CW. Happens more or less regularly though number of units doing this varies. Expect the opposite when 2C comes out. Second reason: Tukayyid! MercStar this season are Clan Wolf loyalists (at heart) and secured some of the sweetest cream IS has for this event. Also people are going where they might get best matches.

I think we won't know how the player base feels about clan XL with that tiny nerf (seriously it's still more maneuverable than the same tonnage of STD engine) until the IIC pack comes out. Will people choose to run CXL or will there be enough builds that are better with STD engine to say the two are reasonably balanced.

As for me? I'm going clan XL, an extra 10 tons of weapons, speed, armor, or heat sinks is well worth the risk of losing a ST and getting knocked back down to where you'd have been with a STD engine anyways.

I dont know what top groups are doing after this patch, BUT I will say that none of the top groups to my knowledge claim any sorta home to any one faction, they simply go to what they either want to play or they find more beneficial.

Some will find one play style fits them better, others will go to whats the best.. It's what competitive people do, seek the biggest advantages and put their skill behind it to be stronger than the other really good players.

Well, we stopped playing clan after one day of testing. it is just not fun at all to play Clan in CW right now. And i won´t spend my free time on sth that isn´t fun. It´s that simple. However, we won´t play IS either this weekend, so we are not going to increase the waiting time for you :)
This weekend is griffin time, forgot how much i love this mech in quick matches.

Most of the top units went clan for the event. So what are you talking about?

Things...

Aside from IS loyalist units, most of the mercs are going to go Clan.

Has less to do with power levels, and more to do with the fact they don't want to wait 50+ teams in queue for a match every time.

well two things

1- top players play a lot, the new querks are new and better players like to play new things

2- most "top" units are still clan for the up and coming event

I'm playing 100% clan and I find the ST-loss penalty a good thing.

I also always object any whining from fellow clanners about IS being OP. I always say SOME IS Mechs are (were?) OP, like Thunderbolt, Dragon-1N, etc. But so are some clan mechs like ACH, SCR, etc.

Lorewise, Clans ARE better, meant to be better. But of course the game must be balanced in the end to be fun.
I think PGI tries this in a very naive, almost stupid way, by magically quirking up lostech with HUGE modifiers to be on par or even better than hightech, which is just idiotic and kills a lot of lore background. Objectively. No need for discussion.
The smarter way would have been to give IS pilots more waves and tonnage, even in quickplay. Plus more tactical options for IS like modules (representing "tinkering" on mechs), artillery, etc. Only for IS, not for clans.

My conclusion:
Some whining from clanners IS justified. Namely when it comes to overquirked IS abominations.
But in general, we don't have much reason to whine.
Same goes for IS.

When it comes to the ST penalty, My opinion is simple..

Its ok, even logical that clan mechs sporting XL engines suffer a speed penalty when loosing a side torso..

What is NOT ok and logical is that Clan mechs can't opt out of this by equipping a standard sized engine.

Our engines are hard-locked, and the penalty is forced upon us.

That's why its very much NOT OK.

I see NO REASON why clan engines would be hard-locked, especially now with the st speed penalty in place..

The penalty itself is actually pretty balanced.. being forced to take the penalty.. not so.

But even this penalty being forced upon me WILL NOT make me abandon my Unit, my Clan, and my favorite clan mechs.

I will still wreck your faces in spite of it.

See you on the battlefields of Tukayyid.

clanners are in a lose lose situation.

lets be honest its not only the clan that make clanners better. There is within the units more organisation and teamplay even amongst clanpugs.

Now tukkayid II is going to be a check for balance GREAT - fail. Fist the event is way to close ot the change to properly let the balance sink into peoples builds. Second, If clanners now continue to use their OP organisation to win the event. They will get nerfed further. Or they lose the event.

The only way to show how balanced something is would be OP clan-teamwork in IS mechs showing how good these IS mechs can wreck clanmechs. But thats not going to happen because most clanunits are clanners from before MWO and will stay this for that reasons.

And further, again "balance" will be judged in an event where different teamplay categories bring their metamechs vs the othe factions metamechs. This means balance is again not judged by ALL mechs these factions have. Because a wide variety of chassis on BOTH factions, will never see this weekends battlefields enough to add their imbalance (of being bad) to correctly influence the statistics.

I want a new chassis challange finally. PGI can track a lot more data from this when the "tryhards" go in various chassis because it shows how far you can push single mechs. Surely amongst the top scorers the differnece is mostly luck, but you can get a very good general overview on where these mechs operate by average and goodpilots potentials.

I´d be fine with the nerf, if clan engine could be swapped out. Those mechs get crippled and more crippled. I gonna play IS for the event. I want to have fun in my spare time and not hanging around frustrated.

To all IS-moaners: Get a set of clanmechs and try for yourselves. Especially others than the TBR,EBR,DW,SCR, HBR.

I think by "lostech" you actually meant "lowtech". Posted Image

In any case, the problem it seems is that a large chunk of the player base also thinks that way, that the only valid balance method is harmonization.

Again because they and the balance overlords at PGI who completely lack imagination. Cannot come up with a solution to allow 'respawning' in the regular ques.

They need to look no further than the War thunder Realistic mode to see how this can be made to work.

in Realistic mode you have a certain number of 'spawn points' at the start. and a rack of 5 Tanks to choose from, do you go with the tank that costs all those points, betting that you can score that many points before you are destroyed in it? Or do you go with the cheapest Tank you can and do well with that to save for the better Tank for later in the match, that way you are in a Tiger while the poor ******** on the other side are in t-34 I's (1940).

Add some strategery to our play.

You forgot to add the Arctic Cheater. Wow, that makes 30% of the current Clan mechs top tier. I wish 30% of the IS mechs were top tier. Posted Image

Hell, I can guarantee that I will be on top of the scoreboard using even Warhawks, cause Wubhawk or Lurmhawk are damn effective even in T1 play.

That's basically CW drop mechanic. PGI should integrate it with pug drops.

Oh sorry, of course you are right, el bandito :)
Nevertheless I invite every hardcore IS player to play the event on clanmechs. Then we can talk again.

PTS 4 is good. No question. But needing the clans again in the same patch divides the gap again. This time in the other direction.
