Its less than a week until MWO's Steam Launch and I don't see it under upcoming F2P titles. Sooo @PGI you guys might want to get someone on that, it's free advertising.

I'm pretty sure they dont want ANYONE to see it until Dec 10th, it wasnt ready so what was the point in advertising an unfinished product (both in their eyes and ours) when all it would do is leave a bad taste in any newcomers mouths?


They dont need advertising BEFORE the Steam launch...i think being on STEAM with its insane amount of users is advertisement enough.

Also, a good product sells itself. Maybe this will be an eye opener for us all.

I'd definitely wait until after Tuk to do any advertising.

There should be some advertising done just before, really. No need to be too early though.

I am well aware and im prety sure i didnt say that...

I dont think in my post at all i said that there is not such thing and a unfinished or Beta or Early Access game on Steam. Its actually about 40% of their content.

But that doesn't mean i think MWO should follow suite the opposite actually. When you feel you are ready being on STEAM is a huge step up in Advertisement. Just BEING there is huge, Millions of users huge.

My ironic concern is how much the Steam overhead would be for this game... considering how unoptimized MWO happens to be.

The whole point of being on steam is to advertise. I'm sure steam handles all that stuff, they want the game to do well also.

If PGI paid any money to advertise it was going to steam, it would be like paying for an ad that tells you an ad is coming.

Free advertising is free advertising and as far as advertising goes the more the better.

Its going to be interesting that's for sure. MechWarrior Online is the best shooter out. Its to bad its just another shooter though and doesn't offer more. Going to be really interesting between Steam launch and the end of the year.

I should say it is hinting at offering more with the galactic war map but that not even half done at the moment.

I will tell you what. I can say for sure it wont be launched half as strongly as it could be. For various reasons. The same reasons there are no NPC's in MechWarrior Online. But also that it doesn't need to be. Online gaming is a wasteland of 80's and 90's game design, clone shooters, clone MMO's, big budget and low.

They got some competition with Star Citizen but it wont go on Steam because its so far from being done or playable, for any length of time anyway..... MechWarrior Online is pulling its punches to give Star Citizen and the rest breathing room if anything.

Prepare for anuses for 7,000 of these negative reviews and downvotes:

"Its so sad to see this game at the point where its standing because this game has some really great potential.
ATM its a pay-or-grind game. Whats even more sad is that the prices are ridiculous , atm you need to pay 10 bucks to get 1 machine gun (speaking of the tommy gun). I would definitely pay something like 30 bucks if i could play this game to its potential but atm im not spending 100+ dollars to get everything unlocked."

Pulled and paraphrased from WOWS, WOT, Warthunder, (which are infinitely more popular and well made) as well as Steel Ocean, Heroes and Generals, and League of Mechs: Robocraft (about our level of turdness).

And an equal number of positive reviews like this:

"I love this game, its free, and I never spend any money."

Along with an equal number of White Knight positive reviews.

Like every other F2P game on Steam.

I wouldn't be so sure it's free. There is likely a cost associated with showing up in the 'Upcoming' lists.

As far i recall even then the playerbase got hit plenty of times by the incompetence of PGI and IGP.

Because if anything to mention: 'WTF happened to this game' is in the right place if reviewed.

With Steam kicking in soon you should have public hard numbers soon.

It's probably a mistake to release MWO into Steam in the condition it's in now, but the shrinking population numbers forced PGI's hand.

I used to wonder why MW:O wasn't on steam yet (in the upcoming section) and that is because they know the second they make a storefront page. The steam forums for the game will be opened and the flood ( of bad reviews ) will begin. They are avoiding that as best as they can. Don't expect a store front page for the game till a few minutes before their release.
