Didn't realise WoT was such a touchy subject. Looks like I will punt $60 at this game and if I get 2-3 months entertainment out of it I'll be happy. The main reason I even included the WoT thing was that they are superficially similar (vehicle combat) while I know of alkot of tankers planning on coming over and it seems a few names I recognise are here already;)

I mean I play WoT, but MWO isnt anything like WoT so you cannot compare them.
MWO is a simulation, and being in the biggest, baddest Mech out there doesnt mean anything, it will be as much fun being in a light/med/heavy mech (well thats what I think they want :) ) as it will be being in an Assault class mech.

My personal favourite mech class is Heavy, Assault is ok, but I will mainly end up doing scouting to start with, then progress from there (as scouting is fun if you ever played the MW range of games), but if you have never played any of the MW series, you can download MW4 for free and get a feel for it (though the game will be different to anything that came before), still, im hoping that this will be the missing link in the MW series, online and expandable with new maps, plus I doubt we will suffer all the hassle from other on line games and their adjustments, most of this will be down to mech selection and play style B)

Lol thats the funniest thing I have ever read =P All of the premium tanks in WOT are terrible compared to the ones you need to grind with ingame exp and credits. Never heard anyone call the Lowe or KV5 super duper other than that they are money printing presses on tracks =P

Yeah at least in WoT you didn't need to spend real money so to buy best tanks in the game, though "gold" ammunition is a little too much. But in many other P2P games you can't even get best equipment without real-world money, or it will take years to do so.

It's easy to forget these things, but I was grateful nevertheless because it showed at least a minimum of care for the community. Admittedly, most of it was just damage control, that simply healed the shortcomings of the initial game development.

It wasn't really a shortcoming of an initial game development. World of Tanks was designed for 10-15k hardcore tank simulator fans plus maybe 5k other players who'll come and go. Russian-speaking fans so they're not as rich as english-speaking ones.
So a game had a small budget to begin with. That's why World of Tanks uses some cheap licensed game engine etc.

Well, as of right now, I'm burned out of WG games, with their lack of transparency and skewed game that (no conspiracy here) auto nerf-bats all the german tanks. Hopefully, since MWO isn't based on countries, the devs won't feel a sudden urge of patriotism like in WoT. I was an alpha tester for wowp, and quite honestly, I'm not impressed with the gameplay. I know it's still in beta, but the controls just feel so off. Even though WG really brought me to the F2P genre, I'm thinking of migrating to other games, like this one (or the other mech game that I don't think I'm allowed to mention on this forum) because of how WoT is just generally lacking right now.

Wots has lost so much. in my opinion, with all the so called Adjustments they made. it always seems when they update or adjust something in stats for the tanks one nation is all ways more OP then the rest . beside the fact of how you play that Nation. and thier specific tanks. It was fun playing it . I'm proabably just going to dump Wots. depending on how this game runs and looks.

The future is never set in stone. unless there is no future to change?

Well, since I'm ace Panther driver on EU server (not just 1 or 2 battles. Around 250) and I don't think they'e that biased towards some nations. Some of the stuff is ridiculous (E-50 nerf, or the speed of IS-3, which does only around twice the speed of Maus in real life), but not everything is so grim.

And you can mention Hawken freely. That is, unless you do so in "MW sucks, rip off of Hawken!!!!" fashion. :)

Well I am actually kind of in the same boat as you OP. I actually had a love/hate relationship with WoT and played it a long, long time before quitting.

As far as MWO, I am really, really interested and am considering a founders pack but there just isn't alot of information out about it. Everything I have seen appears to be exactly like the WoT model but not alot of offical chatter on what exactly you can buy with ingame currency. Here is what I have found so far, be it offical announcements or implied.

In game currency:
- can be used to buy premimum subscriptions with the same 50% bonus to c-bills and exp that we have seen in WoT.
- can be used to to convert elite exp into free exp just like WoT. - In gamespot Video
- can be used to buy unspecificed cosmetic things. - Hear something to this effect on one of the videos I watched.
- can be used to buy mechs - Implied (see below)

Other than that nothing.

*** Note - I get the information about being able to by Mechs from a comment I read about the founders packs. The post was describing how they came up with a value of $170 on the Legendary Founders Pack. Here is the question from the Founders FAQ.

"Lengendary Package was disappointing from a value stand point....
A: People saying this just arent realizing the value of the mechs. If you buy legendary you will have 4 prime variant mechs which means you already have the start on all 4 mech trees they are a part of.
The lifetime C-Bill booster on all 4 mechs means when your grinding C-Bills you will never not have a mech out of combat you can jump in with.
In short the values are like this
10$ a month on premium accounts and around 15$ value at least on the Founders Mech's which is 170$ value for the 120$
If the mech's dont mean this much to you then perhaps Elite is a better option for you"

So we see Premium is $10 a month which is a perfect price and the Founders Mechs are worth at least $15 each implying that you will be able to buy mechs as well.

The issue is, at the end of the day I have no clue what $40 or $80 of ingame currency might buy me other than a premium subscription so how can I value it. For example, using the above quote, does it mean:

A - that I could buy the $30 Veteran Pack and then once the game goes live buy 2 Premium Mechs simlar to the founders Mechs at $15 ingame currency a piece?

or

B - I going to find that all the $40 is going to buy me is a couple months sub fee and maybe a slot or two?

As you can see, the actual value of the "In Game Currency" makes a whole, heck of alot of difference on the value of the founders packs. Right now all we have is a blind leap of faith that $40 of ingame currency is going to be actually worth $40 to us once we can spend it.
