-sigh- you missed where I mentioned I got it dead before our first drop was dead... But you know reading everything might not be your strong suit....

No, I read it, but my point still stands. They still probably did not bother to chase you off Omega because they were so confident that your team would not be able to get a kill advantage on them.

Now, had your team actually gained a Kill advantage (like 12-6) on 1st wave, then was able to quickly take Omega and force 228 to fight you under your dropships, that would have been good.

It's also the fact that the SMART people remembered how bad the IS queue was last time and for the want of quick games went with a clan faction. A lot of the better units went Clans. I know my unit was supposed to rotate IS for 2 weeks but we decided to go clans for the event because of that reason specifically.

All the big teams are currently Clan. They treat the game like a job, and as dull as that is, it does get them wins, and a large, organized team will crush any random mix of PUG's and casuals, regardless of faction. As for why they are Clans, Clan mechs have been superior in the CW environment since the beginning, barring a few short-lived exceptions (PPC's Thud, etc.) - not sure how they fair after the Rebalance, but you get the idea. Also, a lot of people just like the "roleplaying" aspect of having superior everything and also somehow being an "honorable Clan warrior" - who shows his honor by crushing vastly inferior IS opponents. I've never gotten that, but the concept translates well into CW, sadly.

Now, as for why CW allows PUG's and Casuals, that's because it's the only way to pretend the environment still has enough active players to be alive. And as for why CW pits full teams against PUG's and casuals, that's because it's a laughably stupid game mode with no semblance of balance or interesting, fair fights, barring times when dumb luck happens to pit equal skill teams against each other. Until that is fixed, CW will be a ghost town outside of major events.

Right... so, let's consider a few possibilities for your claim:
1) Either there's a magical force in effect that makes "bad" pilots choose IS mechs and "good" pilots choose Clan mechs and that without this magical dividing force the two sides would be equal since their mechs are equal.
2) OR, IS mechs are cheaper and thus attract more new players who have yet to get their skills up, AND Clan mechs were (at least up until recently) superior in general to IS mechs, meaning that in cases of equal skill, the Clan pilot would have an advantage. This combination of effects gives the illusion that "IS pilots suck" when what is really going on is "New pilots play IS - and suck - and Clan mechs are better anyway."

I'll give you a hint - option 2 is the right answer.

Hopefully phase 3 we can get back to fighting IS v IS

Because that would take away their free wins. Nothing gets an "elite" team's interest more than playing a full on 12-man against a bunch of random PUG's and casuals in cheap IS mechs (because that's all starting players can afford) and seal-clubbing them over and over. It's laughable, but we're also to believe it is an "integral part of the high-skill CW environment." Pit them against their own kind, and they'd lose sometimes, and we can't have that!

Why is it that the guy who gets on comms in CW pugs is always an idiot? I could not believe some of the moronic strategies I kept hearing on comms....

sry you don't need to make MWO "your job" to get a bit mapknowledge, when you got long range outplayed you just played wrong. nearly all maps offer areas to close to the opponent. And some IS mechs can be as effective at range as clanners.

Nope. With ECM range reduced, you're not stealthing a group of IS brawlers into close range vs. the Clans without getting shot up first unless the Clans are asleep at the switch, in which case you've won anyway. As for the last part, "Some IS mechs can be as effective as Clan mechs" is how that reads. Yeah... and most aren't, or at least aren't as effective in CW. And that's where the Clan's get their big edge - not from skill, but from not having to make sacrifices to be effective at all ranges.

Yeah, all the teams that treat the game like a job more than a game.

My unit and I dropped once on Tukayyid last night, 12 of us vs an assortment of guys from 3 teams and some absolute random PUGs.

We got face-rolled. We killed less than 10 of their mechs and they wasted all 48 of ours at stupidly long ranges.

As far as I know, the unit I play with has sworn off CW because of how much it favors the Clans still.

The ISvIS side of CW is the only part that is any degree of fun and balanced.

your unit used poor tactics then

I don't know why PGI didn't offer a proper faction reset before the event. A lot of the better teams are known to switch between IS and Clans, but at the moment it seems nearly all of the really good teams happen to be on the Clan side. I've only seen Lords on the IS side, and I'm not sure how much they play at the moment.

If almost all the top units are on one side of the conflict, that's pretty much enough to make the difference even if the wins in games among average players were 50-50.
