It took me 14 matches to complete the event, rather than the 40 that it would have taken were the scoring system not changed, for a total time investment of about 7.5 hours. I played Solo Clan, so all of my observations are based off of that. Most games were a mix of PUG vs PUG teams. Had 5 that were against IS groups (8-10) with pugs filling in gaps, and 2 where we had a clan group and I was part of the filler.

First, I think PGI did right by adjusting the point system and making it cumulative. I do not feel frustrated or sick of the game-mode having completed the event. Rewards were nice and it was not too difficult. I did not spend more than 2 minutes waiting for a match, which is very nice.

I feel like the balance between IS and Clans is much better now than it was before. The first day I ran 7 matches and clan side won all 7. Two of those matches were Attack Mode and would have been losses but for a few brave 'mechs that were able to take down omega in a last ditch effort (scores were 30-46, 22-44). The other matches were defense and after the first wave, all IS efforts of teamwork were forsaken and there was a nice stream of targets.

Day 2 was different altogether. In those seven matches, 5 for losses and of those 5 only 1 was relatively close. This time I was on the other side of bad tactics. Had a couple games where half the team was of the same group and those went the worst. Instead of using this to work together, they did not communicate with teammates or actively participate in decision making process and went off to do their own thing without any information being passed to the rest.

TL;DR

1: Event was nice didn't feel like a terrible grind
2: Clan and IS feels more balanced ( IMO it SHOULDN'T be and we should be playing 12v10 at least)
3: PUG vs PUG feels more even, but Group vs PUG is almost certain roll-stomp
4: CW is actually fun when played as intended

I like the scoring too. Even if you don't do that great in a match you don't walk away empty handed so it's not that frustrating. Waiting times for me were actually shorter than in solo queue this week. 1-2 min. Did it as a solo pugger.

Absolutely.

I love the cumulative scoring as well. You don't feel like a losing match, or just a low scoring match, has been a waste of time. This avoids rage at people screwing things up, which is always a plus. It makes playing even when you're pretty unlikely to win (solo puggers) more worthwhile too.

Clan vs IS balance was interesting. Closer than it has been, but skewed a lot. IS was much stronger in a normal defense mission, as they could force short range engagements around ogens and omega, while clans utterly dominate defense in hold territory where they can dictate range and fight a running battle.

Those early attacking missions, as a Clan player, where brutal; a meat grinder. But I sure felt for those IS guys after we took some territory and they had to try and retake it.

CW is indeed fun when you match PUG vs PUG.
They should implement something like this, PUGs really don't care about which planet is being taken or defended, they just want to PUG.
