there are no Clan Autocannon modules, however there are LBX AC modules and UAC modules, the reason for this is the Clan standard Autocannons were intenede as a temporary placeholder (since Clan release about a year and a half ago) until PGI can figure out how to get select fire ammo (cluster and solid shot) working for Clan LBX ACs, if that ever happens all Clan Autocannons will become LBX ACs so PGI do not want you wasting GXP on something which may be removed in future
try the UAC instead the Clan UAC5 is outright superior to the Clan AC5, it is less expensive, uses 1 less critical slot and has the option, if you double tap rather than hold down fire, of firing again inside its cooldown, albeit at the risk of jamming, so conciser using the UAC and its modules instead

Clan AC/5 versus Clan UAC/5
Clan AC/5's only advantage (because its traits are identical to Clan LBX-5) is that it has superior range (Optimum 720 versus UAC/5 630. Zero range 1440 versus UAC/5's zero range 1260).
The only true advantages the Clan AC/5 (LB5-X) (or will have) over the UAC/5 is the ability to use two types of ammunition (standard and cluster shot) while the UAC/5 can only use standard, and it is more accurate at longer ranges. (less bullet drop).
In BT, its advantages include longer accurate range and inability to jam (as jamming is permanent until the battle is over in BT). The cluster shot is very prone to destroying equipment on the inside of the mech in BT (the real reason a Nova has 12 ER ML is because of LBX weapons, not because "ZOMG look what I can alpha." A single LB-20X managed to destroy 7 of my 12 ER ML in a blow.)
Unless you plan on sniping, UAC/5 is better suited.

Why not allow the LBX modules to work for standard ACs until then?

Last I read, switching ammo types wasn't feasible so don't count on ever seeing it.
