Premise: Mwo ideally should feel like massive TACTICAL mech combat:

Problem: Slow growling player base and lack of cohesiveness in games.
Problem: META mix of only specific weapons.

Solution: Implement AI to fill/ shape/ improve combat. Improve weapon diversity.

Format:

AI should take forms such as:

MECHS (house faction specific AI) in addition to player drops:
Example: Reduce live players back to 8 versus 8. Add 8 AI bots to each side. The game then becomes 16 versus 16. The clutch is will the 8 players on each side support their AI or not. AI mechs in addition can be more role specific designs, as they are to be effective not enjoyable (because AI pilots).

Vehicles
Aerospace

AI can be used to player shape, as in perform tactics. Etc etc.
Perform weapons balance etc.
Fill in tier difficulty balances.

AI should not be commanded by players, but by AI itself.

All this does is replacing people with semiretarded Ai to make everoyne a but happy by having some roboseals to club?

also a mehc is a rather complex thing to build how you are going to setup a proper AI? i it doesn' acts meta the AI is pointless because it will be two shotted to crap by any good player. In reverse if you give it proper aim you will see the lesser skilled palyers cry about them being too strong.

i doubt we ever se a good comple AI controlling any mechs. At best you get some low brain tanks and earofighters flying and shooting. But this is going to be low ql entertainment.

That could be a good idea for the Community Warfare maps. Players can defend against a steady stream of A.I. that keeps rolling down each lane into the base, and they are unlimited. The objective is to hold out a certain amount of time.

On the attack, players have to fight through a lot of static defenses plus a steady stream of A.I. opponents that spawn and run down each lane, stopping to fight any players they see. That'd be neat.

That be PvE Warfare not community warfare. It would be just a Co-op mode. Should not be in CW but some kind of addition for the PVE preffering Mechwarriors.

That's what I meant. It might use the CW maps but it's definitely a "PvE co-op" mode.

HBS's BattleTech cometh. Just have to wait and your need for PvE will be resolved. ;)

PvE definitely could be a thing in MWO, story based co-op missions would be cool, and would offer something for players who maybe don't fair so well in PvP.
But no to the idea of putting Ai controlled mechs into PvP, but a possible maybe to other Ai assets (MBTs,AFVs ect) being put in to something like CW, with the ability for a drop commander to issue some form of orders to them.

That'll certainly fulfill the campaign itch, but not the "Mechwarrior" itch. Don't get me wrong, I yearn for HBS's take on 3025; but I would still love to see a full-fledged campaign with co-op built into MWO.

No. I'm not holding my breath.

well that would be good, but even better would be some decent story mode. mayb from low clan warrior caste rank to a full mechwarrior. and some story of a merc going through some Is factions. Which ends at putting the player into the CW PvP setup.

No bots in my multiplayer game please. For training or pve, yes, but not in the regular modes we have now.

That's not a bad idea, but I still think it should be no kind of priority until everything not involving AI and implementing new stuff is done first. There's still a LOT of work in too many current areas that need finishing up.

Totally understand but when players, New and Old, complain, ad nausea, because MWO, that was announced and has always been advertised as a PVP Online F2P Game, give the Dev team Grief, ad nausea, for not having PvE, it is just quite BS is all.

Having a bunch of half witted AI players isn't a cure all. All it really does is open up a PvE aspect of the game.

But AI has no place "filling in" for real Mechwarrior players in PvP, they just can't compare.

I think at the end of the day it might not be something we can avoid. CW is heavily dependent on many players fighting simultaneously on many planet -- and that requires constant events happening. The current event concentrates on one planet and I still had to wait a substantial amount of time to get a game. PvE Community Warfare may be unavoidable in order to have a meaningful Interstellar war.

It doesn't need to intrude on PvP CW. PvP CW can be major planets: Skye, Dieron, Liao, Robinson... the PvE would be fringe planets, pirate hunting, that kind of thing. It lets players contribute to the Community progression as a whole, without necessarily the commitment required for full on PvP CW.
