Hey folks, this time I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine.

He's a day one battletec fan and was playing the TT game many years ago (hes 55 years old).

While on our teamspeak I was mentioning MWO and he'd really like to try it out, however, due to an accident, he can't use his left hand anymore.

Here's my question: Do you folks have good ideas on how to configure the controls to be able to control the mech with the right hand only? I was thinking about mouse or something, but I'm not sure how to do it for best results.

Good ideas are very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance ^.^/

Combo of joystick and pedals maybe ?

Hotas Joystick for most functions for right hand(aiming, sensors, eapongrps,conumables,ecm-switch,...), pedals for turning .

Take a look at this, a one-handed controller specifically for individuals who've lost the use of one arm - and he can use it for other games too.

Another option he could try is to map a Steam controller along these lines

Did he completely lost his left arm or just the hand ?
If its just the hand he could use a modified joystik for leg and movement controll with the left arm and a MMO mouse with multiple buttons for his good right hand.

I just talked to him again. He can use his pointing finger on his right hand and can move the right hand to a certain degree, meaning he can use his mouse, but not too precisely. His left hand allows him to use 2 fingers. His legs are unharmed, but he has not much money to invest in new hardware unfortunately

Left hand could be used for movement controlI (throttle decay off). 1 finger would be enough and right hand could be used for torso rotation and firing. Some configs requires only one mouse button to operate, for example double gauss or missile boat.

so basically you're suggesting, just choosing a mech fitting for this way to play? nice :D

Any suggestions? He'll start over new, so what would be recommended?

Try two of these maybe for left/right turns and have a mouse with two extra buttons where you can set throttle/brake?

Assing 3 button for left hanf:

full throttle
full stop
center legs on torso

choose mid or long range weapon same type. I think some IS tech - 3 LL WVR-6K or 2xLRM10 HBK4SP.

Go to this thread HERE. We had a really good discussion on this. I had made a number of mech, equipment, gameplay, and peripheral recommendations, and there's a lot of other really good information in there. There were a number of requests to pin the thread, but it hadn't happened.

Seriously, go to that thread, and read it through. You and your one-handed friend will find some great materials in there from a number of people.

EDIT: "Give Em The Business" beat me to it by a mere few moments with a link for the same thread. I really wish they'd sticky it.
