I'm sorry if this question has been asked already in another thread ... you can't read them all.

Map sizes. Are these going maps going to be big enough for small mechs to really take advantage of there speed? I am hoping they are not small to the point where they suck all the tactics and strategy out of it, that would pretty much defeat the purpose of the game.

I do not have access to beta so I can't really judge for myself how large the maps are.

The problem is that those people that are in the beta are not allowed to tell you.

What I can tell you is a Dev statement that the two publicly released maps are fairly small (whatever that means), and that there are some coming up that are a lot bigger (whatever that means).

Hopefully it's not WoT all over again. World of Tinymaps, powered by the BIGworld engine, LOL.

Supposedly, the forest map we've seen is a "small" map. Frozen City is supposed to be a "Medium-Small" map. So take that for whatever you will. I take it to mean the largest maps will be quite, well...large. So yes, right proper scouting and good old booking it when it goes **** up should be fine.

That makes me feel a little better. I'm hoping for some maps that are large enough to sport multiple lances. What they have shown so far is not to promising. I did not catch the article talking about the size those maps were supposed to be compared to the rest however thanks for relaying that info. That's not saying that I am not hoping for the best however.

I get the feeling from the video's they have posted that neither of the maps feels like a closet or 10x10 room. So if those are the small maps I think we will be just fine. These guys are not nearly as limited by a bad engine like WoT is.

Yes... i hope those maps to be from HUGE to medium sized.

One of the most dissapointing things in WOT where the lack of map size and "scale"

we will have guns launching death to 1200m ... and we have to have room to maneouvre, depart from fight, re-engage...

Ok, I've read that the battle will last 20 minutes.. is it wight?

20 minutes at.. 40 km/h or so the slowest mech allows for maybe 15<15 km square and let the turtle mech shot some lasers...

I've seen people do math based on the videos we've seen so far that put the forest / canyon map we have seen at somewhere around 3km x 3km. That is supposed to be 'medium' according to Russ. The Frozen City map is supposed to be a little smaller, and the next map - a desert one, I think Russ said - is going to be much bigger than either of these so far. It sounds like we will have a lot of variation on size, terrain, etc ;)

The videos will help a lot, but (as stated above) big and small are relative at this time. If a sq. Km measurement were to be published (legitimately) even that wouldn't be of much use. Just take alook at the "ice world" videos, spaces are confined.
Only actually moving around on a map will be able to satisfy the question. And that, too, is subjective.
