I'm just wondering what the price differential for a Clan versus IS engine is going to be... I don't like buying IS 300 XLs and this is likely to be much worse.

Clan and IS engines will be the same price. you can see that in the twitch video.

provided you ordered in time for the early adoptor rewards you get 2 cXL 300s in the Orions, 4 cXL 315s in the Jenners, 4 cXL 200s in the Hunchbacks, and 1 cXL 270 in a Highlander.

as long as you do not mind having some of the Mechs invalid you will not have to buy any cXL 300 engines

And you can immediately sell 3 of the 4 stock engines for each chassis anyways, cause we can swap them and need only 1 (or maybe 2)

I totally agree with you on this and this is also the reason why I think these Mechs were a good choice for the first IIC mechs in the game. I hope to be able to build some interessting things with this mechs, but since they aren't very good "boats" and actually don't think they will break the balance.

What's less certain is the Orion and the Highlander. Insufficient hardpoints is an issue, as is the very mixed loadouts. The Orion isn't going to be stomping all over Timberwolves, who'll still have better hitboxes and already have very ideal equipment options and effectively removable jump jets with any combination of hardpoints you may want.

I'm sure they won't be bad mechs, but have realistic expectations of them.

The Orion's going to sport roughly half the TBR's hardpoint count, and t he poor Highlander is pretty much identical to the Orion. Sure, it'll have lighter/smaller clan weapons on a 95t chassis, but it won't be able to mount many weapons at all.

What's ironic is what would make the TBR a godlike machine is being able to downgrade it's engine to a 300 or 325XL, because it's got the hardpoints to use that tonnage. All you're going to be able to do with the HGN and ON1 is... put a big engine in it.

Try saving mechs with 150+ mechs in your mechbay.

I have to buy a new engine for each mech i want to use past basics, because swapping anything takes far too long.

Pls PGI, fix it so saving doesn't take longer with more mechs. It really shouldn't be saving every single one when ive only changed one.

I do own well over 150 Mechs, and do have about 130 Mechs ready to drop, after eliting a chassis I usualy sell off the ones I did not enjoy, in my case the cXLs I get with the Orion pack (I did not order the Highlander because I do not like slow assaults) I will probably have to buy 2 cXL250 or 275 for the Hunchbacks, and I will probably get 1 cXL350 for the Orions, but I will not need more cXL300s for a while

Don't buy 250XLs whatever you do, 255 is the same tonnage.

Im probably going to sell 2-3 of the 315XLs and 200XLs because they arent very useful engines, and buy a 350, a 325, a 275, and a 255, then ill see what duplicates i need - i only really envisage me using one of the HGNs past basics, maybe 2 of the Orions, 3 of the HBKs and 3 of the Jenners.

Good point, I know about that along with the 260/265 and 275/280, I usualy use STD 250s in my IS hunchies so just translated that engine rating into XL and did not think when posting,

Depending on build, STD engines may be doable for the Hunchy at least. The SSRM and energy configs might not need the extra tonnage, and being able to zombie with 2xMPL in the CT wouldn't be a bad thing. But I mostly plan on spamming shells via the 2xUAC10 build so I'll need the XL :P

Or 200+ mechs... and another 16 showing up tomorrow... yay first world problems!

Plus the Lord help me if I need to swap to a new CW deck, it takes a half an hour to find and relocate the Radar Derp and Seismic Modules with the bulk of it being the saving time.

Yeah it's funny how the modules on a mech can be worth more than the mech itself. So much module swapping :P

Clan XLs should be more expensive. they are better than IS XLs, after all. should be one and a half times as expensive. you get what you pay for. And considering how much of powerhouses these mechs already are in their STOCK variants, i don't think that's asking too much. you want to be clan and have better tech than the IS, you deal with increased costs. just be glad repair and rearm went out in closed beta, or you'd be paying through the nose for that too (OmniMechs cost nearly twice what BattleMechs do to fix).

No quirks? The hunchback iic with dual 20's is going to be a hot box and cook off its center torso too easily.

Ghost heat for double AC/20 needs to be removed.

Remove the ghost heat and the boom jager returns. Which may just make it viable against the IIC's :)
