Just throwing this idea around because it's cool: How about making the fallen mechs crushable by walking over them?
The destroyed chassis lie around smoking and that's cool, but a bit more of eyecandy is always welcomed. The Mechwarrior experience is defined by the metagame and the simulation of being a walking weapon of mass destruction. And it can't be hard to do, considering there's already totalized assets for the AI mechs in the shooting range in academy.
And maybe, MAYBE, if the killing blow damage is too high, a complete instantly torso splitting for overkill.
I'm actually posting this because I've been talking to some friends in getting into the game, and telling them it's fun and all, but it's always the little details that makes people fall in love with it. I did just because each cockpit is modelled diferently instead of being a generic one like in MW4 which was lame but it's an old *** game. I love watching lasers cut through metal and lit enemies on fire. Distinctive sounds for cannons or engines you know?
Metagame discussions are here all the time, but no one ever posts about the eyecandy of the game.
It's the little details.

I am against them.
1. Crushing by walking over dead mechs is basically a different version of teabagging.
2. Leave the torso splitting to Mortal Kombat fatalities, or was it Killer Instinct's?
3. Lighting enemies on fire is fun but knowing PGI, the framerate will probably take a big hit, if they even managed to code it in game.
Yeah, I'm fun at parties.

But Bandito, didn't you just love when enemies in MW4 would find you, kill you, and just sit there crouching up and down with their Vulture as you were forced to watch?

It'd be neat to be able to crush or step on mechs that are dead, mostly so they have actual collisions and can continue to be interacted with.
[begin sarcasm] Walking through them like they're vapor looks so awesome. Oh but what's the best is when you're behind a mech corpse, and you're getting shot from something on the other side of them, but you don't see it because there's a great feature that dead mechs still have client side collision. So awesome [end sarcasm]

Teabagging is part of warfare. Historically speaking, there were countless cases of defeated Russian soldiers being teabagged by the French in the Crimean War.
War never changes.
I support OPs suggestion.

I would just like dead mechs to cool down to ambient temperature. It looks stupid in thermal vision.
Also: teabagging means people don't need to rush to click the spectate button.
