BLR-1S already does that at a faster speed. No JJs but you don't really need them for ERLL boating. XL400 with 4 LPL is great also.

I faced this mech and build yesterday and won the exchange. Yes it's faster but I have a dead side with standard engine. I believe with quirks I have more armor and structure than some other assaults. It's bittersweet to know old mechs can still compete. Builds never change only the chassi does at this point in the game.

Winning in one exchange against a random player doesn't mean your build is better. Player skill matters much more when your build are that similar. In any case, I think the mobility of running an XL400 on a BLR-1S gives it an advantage in getting favorable trades. CDA-X5 ERLL reaches out to 979m by the way...

What other weapons are good at the 900-1000m range? There will never be. Throughout the entire game's existence there has never been a better extreme range sniping weapon than an ERLL. Maybe ER PPCs when they were lower heat and extremely fast (2000m/s fast) or Gauss, but they have both been nerfed now. You are better off with ER LLs, this isn't really unexpected and there is almost never another good option for that situation.

What else do you expect from the Highlanders?
In the good ole days it was PPCx2 Gauss for the win baby!

Not to split hairs but it's hardly sniping when you are announcing the incoming fire with a beam of light.
The true sniping of the PPC Gauss era was more daunting because it was harder to see where it came from...

Oh and, ignore the silly armour distributions on backs and fronts, just me being lazy.
Sure serves well at being annoying at extreme ranges but that is about it.

Traditionally, sniping means shooting from a place of concealment. However in gaming sniping is almost always colloquially used as long range combat. PPC/Gauss isn't exactly difficult to spot flying across the battlefield either. Actually we've found that on Boreal ERLL works better because it helps other teammates focus fire. If you can't see a target you can just see where all the other blue lasers are going and shoot the same guy.

Well, your anecdotal sample size of one head to head matchup between your Highlander and an XL Battlemaster isn't exactly conclusive evidence. Maybe you are right and maybe you aren't but there needs to be more data than that.
