Besides having problems getting the minimum-tonnage..

What a strange Steiner Posted Image Take 2*Atlas(for scouting) and 2*Commando(for assault). Or Zeus, if you want really light scout.

Jokes aside, ECM and JJ are strongly recommended. NARC or TAG, or both. By sniping you will just give away your position. Better to equip some close weapons, for time when hunters come after you. IMHO
But sometimes it is ungrateful job.

You don't really need ECM but jump jets can be a great idea depending on the map.Giving away your position isn't that big a deal if you don't keep shooting from the same spot.

There was one time on Emerald Taiga, when clan ECM mech (shadow cat i guess) hide in forest between the gates (inside the fortress). Battle was fought by some time, we retreated to omega, to protect gens. And there was no means to spot him, normal, thermal and night vision (how i hate that map for this..). And guy just shot us with gauss (very stealthy weapon). With long enough pauses so we don't get too nervous about it. Finally he discovered himself by changing position, and was forced to retreat.
But anyway, ability to sneak behind sensors is very handy. For spotter, anyway.

As for JJ, it is priceless for some maps, like Hellebore and Vitric. Though Radar Deprivation module is highly advised, if you don't have ECM. Roof poptarting is fun, and at least distracts enemy to you, dmg effectiveness depends on situation.
