This is my first time posting on the site after playing for years. I am making this post to talk about the marauder, as we all know this game has had a hard time with mech balance, and for years most of the things that i have seen in regards to this have been little more then a little pain in the *** from time to time,( never enough to make me complain ) but I cant be the only one that thinks the marauder is way too much of a tank right now. far too many games now i have put way more into the ct then is required to kill any other mech and it just keeps on going. It is at a point were I dont even want to play anymore. I would like to know if any one else feels this way about the new mech, my hope is that if enough of us say something they can go in and fix this.

And before i get trolls telling me i suck at the game and just need to learn how to play
I am full tier 1 and have over 30 screen shots of 1700 + damage games in game modes other than CW

Who cares if it can tank well when it has the same DPS as a Clan medium mech....

Eh, same tonnage of weapons as a timbie with the stock engine.

Besides who cares what you DPS is if you can't focus it where you want it.

This method gets bonus points because it will really cheese off the opponent. Even though I know this I have a hard time shooting at portions of mechs that aren't actively shooting back at me.

I tank about as well in my bounty hunter as I do in my thunderbolts. I kill marauders just fine. I'm not sure what to tell you.

They do spread damage pretty well, similar to stalkers. A little torso wiggle tends to work better than a full twist against long burn clan lasers.

Maybe that's the problem? I see you have a clan wolf tag. Maybe test with an IS mech running ac 20 and report back. It is pretty easy to spread that long burn clan laser if you know what you're doing. Good luck. Don't get discouraged. <o

Clan weapons weigh less so I dont get your point..

Then you are stuck in Tier5 and everything is "tanky" then...

Yeah, but 30 kph slower and less maneuverable with IS weapons, which are worse (unless quirked to hell and back).

don't agree

It has decent hitboxes, but that a$$ is huge and easily shot at. If you're worried about Marauders, what do you think of Timberwolves? lol

Think you just gotta man up son

Don't worry. When it's released for cbills, it'll get nerfed. Us IS scrubs deserve a new good mech (after all, every IS mech since Founders has had an obligatory DOA thread for it).

I've been playing IS for so long that I don't even notice I guess.

let me tell you from first hand and an evening of stomps: I'll die as fast in my marauder as i do in my orions. One good alpha to a side and armor is gone. Twisting is counterproductive on this mech.

This magical tanking ability everyone speaks of... I'd like to have that, too.

Now here comes the joke, you can make yourself a stick in this mech with ease, just twist. but you'll be ct only faster than lightning with this, even good ol facetanking is better than that.

I haven't any issues. I have easily killed, or have been easily killed by, Marauders.

The Marauder seems to have a tighter CT hit box than say, a timber wolf, but it's weakness will be in it's side torsos. Particularly XL-engine marauders, I have seen many of those things (and even myself) get practically one-shot killed.

I purchased all 5 MADs and I have not found them to be overly tanky.
What you are seeing is a slim CT... that's all
and I took out the XL engine in any that had them so...

oops, have to go back t work

It's definitely tanky but not to the point that I would make my first post after years of playing to raise the issue.

It's about as good as I would expect a new, iconic mech to be and they'll NERF it soon. Cheeto was worse when it dropped. Nothing to see here.

If its tanky its the only thing going for it.
DPS quirks are meh.. dont take away its tankyness.

I HATE to fight Marauders but still I think it NEEDs to stay as it is.

Leg them. Marauders are tanky because of structural quirk buff. Legs have no quirks. Most PUG marauders run 40 armor legs too, to squeeze in 1 more heat sink or 1more ton ammo.

Legging is fastest way to take out a marauder. Not the safest btw, as it's still shooting at you. My unit has a standing order where to aim on units. marauders? legs.

ST killing is safest way to take out a marauder. Pretty much all MADs are weapon heavy on 1 side. Kill that ST.

The CT hitbox is kind of screwed IMHO. At 50m range, i have no problem getting most of my SRMs to hit the CT of a hunchback which is smaller than a marauder. Yet, most seem to miss the CT of the marauder.

http://webm.host/5bcd2/

Open CT marauder takes 36 SRMs to the CT and lives. Probably the only other mech that can do this is the stalker.

new stuff is always op (unless it sucks, that has happened before), but its ok, they eventually fix it around the time it goes for cbills (unless it sucks in which case it never gets fixed).

It has th SCR syndrom of that superslim CT which makes twisting very easy and detroying it quite time consuming. aim fro the legs if it isn't hill humping.
