I'm going to trust him for the moment and keep my hopes high. I really feel like they have shifted into another gear and there are great things coming next year. fingers crossed.

Something good happens, I start thinking "Yay! They're doing it...finally!" only to see them steer right back into the ruts again.
If MWO were a car, the engine would be good, the suspension good, and the steering awful.
Don't even get me started on the driver.

They have done tons on MWO before, so this was really just "it's on steam now" kind of post. It's a blog more-or-less rather than a news site, just made up of several bloggers that show off things that are MMO related. I backed them once AOL pulled the plug on them almost a year ago.

Both of your eyes must be completely closed. I've got reservations and apprehension about what this next year will hold, but that doesn't change the fact that, while the progress has been far from perfect, just in this ONE past year, PGI made more progress with the game than all the years prior under IGP combined. Balance is better than it's ever been before. We got something like 10 new/updated maps, Community Warfare improvements, a whole new ranking system that is a hell of a lot better than Elo, more small prize/gift bag type events, another injection of loyalty rewards, the acknowledgement and subsequent banning of cheaters, etc.
Perhaps you'd like to go back to the, "It's been a year and we've only gotten 2 new maps?!" days of IGP? No? Then stop basing PGI's faults solely on those days. We should be looking at the progress they've made since they bought themselves out from IGP, and basing our hopes and fears for next year on that, not all the crap that happened prior under different management.
I rip into PGI enough that I'm definitely not a white knight, and I as well hold reservations of what to expect this upcoming year, but dear god some of you consistent PGI bashers are just insufferable.

It's just that we both see things differently.
They clearly have improved since the IGP days. I still see things they say they are doing that never see the light of day or have taken an unreasonably long time.
That may simply be that their priorities are different, I understand that too, but I still find some of what they do to be poorly thought out or implemented. CW is one example.
3+ years to change blank screens, something that should have been done in an afternoon. They could have put Coke ads up there before morning coffee if they had a sponsor, but they just left it until STEAM because suddenly it became important as part of the house-cleaning before STEAM even tho players had been asking for something, anything different for a very long time. It would not have been a resource drain of them to change that, but they neglected it. That just seems like poor management to me.
Pretty much the only thing that they produce effectively and on time is mech packs. Everything else takes a back seat. Maybe with a metric ton of new STEAM players falling all over themselves to spend cash on the game this won't be the driving motive anymore, but somehow I doubt it.
I still enjoy the game when I play with friends, but I've tired of the repetitive nature of it, CW offers nothing to make the game interesting, and frankly the Devs seem clueless most of the time. But at least without IGP they aren't helpless slaves. They are masters of their own fate.

I feel like a sucker sometimes but there seems to be a distinct upward trend lately.
I just want it to be good so badly!

No feature goes that quickly in properly vetted video games.
And frankly, I'm glad that cockpit screens were one of the things they left until the last minute. They just don't matter that much compared to, say, player tutorials or weapons balance.

A Static screen showing a bar graph for instance would have been a better choice.
It's a stretch calling still useless monitors in the cockpit a "feature". There was likely very little effort put into even what they have now. It's the fact that they didn't bother with something so simple compared to the things you describe that worry me.
I can understand time being needed for more pressing things if what we were talking about was in anyway on par with respect with the amount of time it took to do, for example, the tutorial, but it wasn't even close.
They could have easily put up some form a static image a week after players started asking for it, but couldn't be bothered.

A static screen would have been understood basicly has "Still another useless stuff just to shut your mouth".
Not for nothing one of the screen implemented (and different between clans and IS) are a kill count.
But you will probably never happy with PGI, so why do you even bother bro?
You keep ranting and attacking the game despite all the progress made. You go so far to say that "they do progress. But I don't care it's not the ones I'm interested in".
Dude, you have been more worried about a freaking screen rather than BALANCE?!

PSR is based on match maker which didn't change and so we get the same matches, just with a different population. Why is that something to cheer?
And stepping over the low bar IGP set isn't something to be rewarded. I am guessing you believe in participation trophies too.
Balance is better? Really. So I can take any mech and any weapon and find a role and success in MWO. Are you high? Once again, better than zero still does not mean good.
10 new/updated maps. And the overall response was? And who cares if I end up playing Frozen City/Skirmish 24/7.
Banning cheaters 3 years in. Woot.
Meanwhile iterations of fluff. There have been more changes to the mechbay than anything else, that hasn't changed. And taking back player choice?! Still nothing for me to spend MC on and the latest announcement is about decals (notice he didn't mention the word custom), a VISUAL change to CW with little added content, and a tournament that will sap resources away from much needed development because Russ thinks he is making the next LoL.
Pretty sure who is holding the white can and who has eyes wide open.

Good attitude. Of course if you think you could support the game by yourself without the people with legitimate concerns and big wallets that are still around, okay. But I warn you, you might have to sell your tractor and change your name to "Joe".

Its a new day, let it the **** go already.
I think you really over estimate how much you whiners actually contribute in comparison to people that are actually happy with where the game is at today.
Games are meant to entertain you, if you are not having fun delete and move on. If the game dies you were right. If it dies there is still this niche so most likely someone will step up and try again.
But for now please just shut the **** up already, all you are doing is giving a negative opinion with new players and ******* with the bottom line of the money I have invested.
