You are looking at around the GTX 560 TI mark, it comes in 2 flavours 384 cores (£159) or 448 (£189) i would highly suggest if you can going for the 448 version it performs alot better and can overclock (done right) to around the GTX 580 performance mark.

The Radeon HD 6950 is faster though. At least vs the regular 560ti, not the 448 core. It's just about exactly as fast as that, but uses less electricity. And is £155

And the Geforce GTX 570 is somewhat faster than that 560ti 448, this is slightly cheaper than what DV posted;

6950 is a great pick within budget, well thought of.
It's not quite as good as the 448 in crysis 2 tho at standard clocks, both cards overclock very well however.

(not allowed to use png files here it seems)
From my understanding the 570 does not overclock as well, but i cant confirm that.

The 560ti 448 is a 570 with cores removed... so it should overclock better technically than a lower bin, or so I would think.

The 448 can hit 580 speeds, i have not seen reports of the 570 doing the same but yes one would think given the 448 is a failed 570 essentially it would.

3dfx Voodoo 2 pci - Great.
GeForce 5200 pci - Great.
Radeon X700 agp - Great.
Radeon x1950xt pcie - Great.
Geforce gts250 pcie - Great.
It's time for another ati/amd card this time around & I expect to have no issues with the 7870 coming on Friday.
I've got 3 or 4 older (fanless) gfx cards kicking around in my boxes of old computer gear & pound to a penny if I chucked them into a box tomorrow they'd work just fine.
*EDIT* can't spell

3dfx voodoo 2 is what I played mechwarrior 2 mercenaries on, and 3dfx voodoo 2 is what I'll play mechwarrior online on!

Hitting stock speeds with an OC'd card isn't much to be shocked about. Back in the 480 days we were unlocking 465 into 470's and then oc'ing the **** out of them. Of course, you can also OC the snot out of a 480.

Turning a card that costs $269 too match the speed of a card that costs $429 is not shocking, but pretty good value.
