What happens when you fall off a cliff? I haven't been able to play any of the games, so I don't know. Will it cause damage to your legs? Will you fall over? What happens?

It has been seen in at least one gameplay video (which I cannot link to) that falling from too great a height will damage your legs. First armor, then internals. It this particular case, it was from jump-jetting too high, and there was no evidence that it could make you fall over.
Of course, everything is subject to change between now and release.

You will take damage when you land on your legs. This can be from jump jets or from falling down a cliff. I don't remember seeing guys fall over after taking falling damage.

You hope you are in a mech first?

I meant like if you're walking on the edge of the cliff and one leg goes off, would you land on your side?

sure you will fall. and you will take damage. and you take damage on the part where you fall on. its all in the BT rules and i guess the devs will not change anything on it.

Does landing on someone mitigate damage to your own mech by any %?

yeah the light mech gameplay, the Jenner is jumpjetting but didn't save enough for landing so hit hard and took (minor) leg damage. This is TT\MW canon consistant.

That's called Death From Above and will be in game. Both mechs will take some damage, and may fall inducing more.
As for generally landing, save some jump jet for the way down, use it to cushion your landing. If you do it right you should take little to no damage.
