.. which I can't seem to fine the answer for. In the single mech "Fire" pack, can I choose which of the four mechs I want, or am I limited to the Panther?

"A la carte" lets you choose.

A la carte is at the bottom of the page. If you choose two chassis you get them both at 30 dollars per chassis (could have sworn it used to be 20)

If you go through 4 tiers, the first one gets you the Panther.

Now as tanky as they try to make the Panther, you're better off with Resistance 2's Wolfhound if you're just going the first step in. It behaves more like a light mech (the Panther behaves like a medium that just isn't tanky enough).

As far as I remember the "A la carte" pricing was always just slightly more than buying the series of mechs in order. I guess choice has it's price.

I can second what Koniving said about the Resistance II Wolfhound vs the Panther. In the right hands, any mech can be a powerhouse, but I feel that the second pack is just all around better than the first one.

Sounds like you want a different mech though. You could get just that one for $35, but honestly at this point, I would just grind those c-bills and buy it in-game. Unless you really want that Resistance paint job, the 30% c-bill bonus and the faction content.

as the other 2 answers did not explicetly say it, if you choose the named pack you get the Mechs that tier says it comes with, you have to purchase a la carte if you want to choose the Mechs, and a la carte is not worth doing for Light or Medium (which costs $5 more than buying the Medium tier including the Light chassis)
