Awfully sorry about this earlier today:

I hadn't even realized I TK'd you until the match was over and I had reviewed the video. I promise it wasn't intentional and would have apologized in match if I had realized it at the time. I was a bit too focused on that Cheetah though and could only think "Stupid clipping! I thought PGI fixed that on this map?" when my AC/20 round seemingly disappeared.

Anyways, I hope it didn't frustrate you and wish you the best of luck in your next game!

LOL that is actually the best, most completely accidental TK I've ever seen!

Totally more his fault for running right in front of you as you were actively engaging the target for quite a bit there Posted Image

Thanks! I'll admit that I have rewatched it several times to make sure that I was actually seeing it. I also got a chuckle out of it, just from the sheer randomness of it!

Light Mech Piloting 101

NEVER run in FRONT of mechs....Even Friendlies. Its in a light pilots best interest to use Light mechs at what they do best and that's maneuver.

Maybe he learned that lesson? You are a great teacher Nightmare! Posted Image

I do feel sorry for him though. Wonder if he even knew what happened.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I missed it in-game and actually missed it once when I played the footage back. It wasn't until the second play back when I did it frame by frame that I saw it happen.

I liked your video, worthwhile share.

Happened to me in my wolfhound once hahaha totally the pilot's fault. You get +Karma for making an attempt to apologize though.

More correctly never run in front of allied mechs with low mounted weapons unless what you're running from is way way scarier.

This.

Sometimes you find yourself in a sticky situation where the alternative to getting insta-killed is to run through some friendly fire. I'll take my chances with the friendly fire any day; at least they're not actively trying to kill you - they might even adjust their aim away from you if they see you coming.

this is why i dont like tight formations. i end up loosing dps because of all the shots i didnt take because i didnt want to hit anyone on my team. i like to have room to maneuver.

of course with all the new players its probibly worth mentioning that lights should never run into a crossfire. you have the speed and maneuverability to go around.

99 times out of a hundred a TK is this. Someone jumps in front of you when your fingers are mashing down the triggers in a hot fight and you can't pull off him fast enough. I had a unit-mate in a Blackjack try to jump my kill in a CW match recently-I was engaged in a brawl with a Loki in a smaller mech at close range-and he took an AC20 and four medium lasers dead in the back, and since he was running meta with no back armor I one-shotted him. He was really mad at me, too. I yelled back, "You don't wanna get shot? Don't jump in front of me like that!!" And we're online friends-who run together frequently and have a fairly good idea of how the other one works. We both were target-fixated and didn't have situational awareness, I didn't even know he was there and he didn't realize that I couldn't see him make his move til it was too late.

Nearly every time I've taken (or dished out) friendly fire it hasn't been intentional. I've cut across the firing lane trying to exfiltrate from a bad situation, or moved the wrong way at the wrong time, or came around a corner and got mistaken for a bad guy, all sorts of things can happen in the confusion of a firefight. I've never purposely team killed or purposely fired on someone I knew was a friendly, but blue-on-blue does happen. It happens in real life, too.

I specifically remember this kill, I thought you were being a jerk because I heard no apology from you but you still had mentioned Good Game at the end of the battle and even said Good Luck Have Fun in our very next drop. Anyways, I sincerely do appreciate the apology, and thanks you for reaching out to tell me this. A fellow friend of mine, TLords told me about this post.

I look forward to dropping with you in the future. Until then, happy hunting!

This is a good point, although yes I would conclude this was my fault, I am usually pretty good at determining if I can get under my teammates gun while he shoots above me. I guess I did not realize how low that AC/20 was placed on the 'Mech.

Yeah, I did a similar TK like this a couple days ago. Was pouding away at an enemy mech, and an Enforcer walked right in front of me. 2 AC/5's, 2 Large Lasers, and 2 Medium Lasers later, he was face down on the ground. I didn't even realize it until the end of the match when I got the TK -150 points. I felt kinda bad about it. My first TK. :(
