Can Mechs Jump?

Since some levels have ridiculous things you get hitched on... what if you could hit space and the mech would do a little leg hop. Not very high at all but enough to clear you know... that pebble that stops your 30 foot tall mech dead in its tracks.
Mechs with JJs would just jump and then the JJs would kick in.
Small jumps, not huge leaps.
Just throwin it out there. I hate getting killed cause a rock the size of my fist got in my way >.<

But if they could, even a little that's a lot of weight to be coming down hard onto those tiny legs.

It is so rage enducing to get a bunch of good shots off, with a clear escape route, and then bam - 0kph. Followed by becomign a pincusion for all enemy mechs who you just p*ssed off

You just cant jump enough to move up a level, or into another hex. Unless you leap off a cliff, in which case you can float hexes depending on how high up you are.

So ill say its safe to assume that it can jump anywhere from 1-15% of its height.

Jumping is obvious lol
If you ever get a 0 piloting skill pilot too, you can throw on Hot Dog, to avoid shutdowns from TSM and heat needed to activate it.
An Atlas can throw a 30 ton mech 1 hex. A 25 tonner 2 hexes. A 20 tonner 3 hexes. And ive never had Protomechs in a game, so I have no idea there. I do know you can carry them, but not with BA bars.

Now that said... battlemechs can smash things as they walk over them or even 'through them'. Again sadly this is something that is barely in this game. Used to be we couldn't knock down trees but that has been added in just the last year. Battlemechs should be able to walk through (with again risk of taking damage) most of the buildings on the maps in this game. Walk over, smashing, the cars on the streets. Etc. However Jumping or Leaping is not something a battlemech is supposed to be able to do. In fact the Battlemech would have a very high probability of tripping it's self just trying and ending up on it's face. Just getting a Battlemech to stand back upright after being knocked down is quite a chore (sadly again something we don't have in this game anymore).
So yeah the answer is undeniably NO. Anyone saying otherwise.... just doesn't know.
If you need source or are actually interested in the TT rules:

Kind of? I mean in one book someone made an atlas do a hand stand so...
But in terms of TT rules, yes if you dig deep enough but they don't jump high. However they can actually step over things like pebbles.

If not spider, then stinger or wasp. They all have jump jets.

The crap you can do in Megamek, is pretty intense.
And as said, leaping, is jumping, but you cant jump up even 1 terrain level. Which is chest height. Most humans can jump that high (think someone jumping up onto a stage).
However, since clearly mechs can traverse ANY level 1 terrain, the same ways you see humans defeat chest high obstacles
Is how humaniod mechs would do it too.

On this note, I would like to add, a particular point of pride in myself here in one of thw coolest things I ever managed to pull off in this game, that I jumpjetted off a ledge, landed on a DWF, and shot it to death from atop its roof with my IV4. "A one in a million shot boss, I swear"

Yes please do look at that again. Running straight off a cliff is what they are talking about by 'leaping'. They in no way state that a mech can propel it's self upwards without jump jets. Seriously stop misleading new players and read this stuff for yourself.
