Like the title, when building your mechs, where in your mech are you storing your ammo, usually? Just a thought triggered by the latest patch notes. I've been keeping mine in legs/ head for IS since open beta, while Clan mechs are kind of all over due to the free CASE.

This is not so I know exactly where to aim with my DapperJack's MGs to hunt for explosions. No, nothing to do with that at all.

Legs and cockpit (although a few mechs have too big cockpit hitboxes for that). Then arms.

well i put my ammo in enemy mechs
if you dont use case in is mechs legs are still best spot imo otherwise in clan mechs anywhere
go legs or torsos if you want ammo explosions

Most clan mechs I have ammo in the arms. They're so small and can't sheild, they don't fall off easily. Most clan torsos soak bullets so that's the last place you'll see ammo with me.

I think your left leg can only be damaged indirectly if your left torso goes. So for this to happen, I guess the right leg took out your right torso, then center torso, then left torso, then left leg.

At which point, you didn't have a lot of mech left anyway :P

Mostly in my Mechbay, because you know, ammo can explode. Lasers can't.

Legs and cockpit first, followed by CT and ST.
Since ammo in CT get use up first, the ammo bin will be empty by the time the armour is breached.
ST only if they are padded with DHS.

Legs and head, but there are exceptions.

If the mech runs a STD engine and legs seem to take damage too easily, I'll sometimes move ammo to a torso with CASE.

Also, if a smaller mech (that I run an XL in) has more than 1 ton of ammo (one ton is always the head), I'll put it in the CT. I don't generally like ammo in the CT because of the potential ammo explosion, but mechs like lights have their legs shot at all the time and XL engines negate CASE so...what you going to do really?

Doesn't matter since the chance of ammo explosions is absolutely negligible anyway. Whichever component you won't lose first., legs and head generally. Might aswell put it in the CT if you don't have room anywhere else. It should be used before your CT armor is gone, and even if it isn't it won't blow up anyway.

Keep it in your cockpit.. what does it matter.. they blow out your cockpit your dead anyway, plus ammo is expended top to bottom so odds are that ammo would be gone by the time someone is shooting you in the face :)

MIne go cockpit, center and legs.. L/R Torso and Arms are last resort.

Iv put lrm or ac ammo in an arm before, the idea was pair the ammo with the launcher and expend it before moving in and sacrificing it as a shield during the brawl where i fall back to torso mounted energy.

I'M NOT TELLING YOU!!! That is confidential information, and critical the build and success of my mech-ability.

Depends on the mech and its particular weapon placement, but almost always have a couple of tons at least in the legs / head because those are used last, and therefore if i lose arms/STs towards the end of the fight i wont lose my ammo.

Worrying about ammo explosions is pointless. Its a 1 in 100 games type thing, ignore it as a factor. Only worry about having ammo at the end of the fight.

head, because the chance of headshots is extremely low, even lower to get a crit there that would destroy the ammo (in most cases such a crit would blow your head off even without the ammo)

Then you have legs and arms. IS should be able to use case for arms, because case on is mechs only makes sense with STD engines.

It doesn't matter because In 2000-3000 matches since CB I've died to an ammo explosion maybe 3 times?

Well it kind of does matter, cause in the build where i put ammo in the arm to be sacrificed with the gun it kept slots open in torso for lasers and sinks which i needed to keep.

CTorso
RTorso
LTorso
RArm
LArm
RLeg
LLeg
