Just played a CW match where a Hunchback on the IS team was continuously hitting me with medium lasers from 1080-1100m away and not just hitting, but damaging. Is this a bug? Something RIDICULOUS in the new quirk tweaking? Or is this cat just cheating somehow? reported him through game report system. Anyone that knows what's going on here, I would appreciate knowing because, I'm sorry, but medium lasers hitting @ over 1000m?!? NO, that is unacceptable.

Must be a bug I reckon, it's the server that does all the hit/distance calculations. Unless he's found a way to have med lasers register as C-ER Lasers. Was it a IS or new Clan Hunchback?

If you think he/she was cheating then report him, yes, but call him out by name in the forum, no.

That is a violation of PGI's Code of Conduct, which can get you reported.

PGI Code of Conduct is here:
http://mwomercs.com/conduct

Particularly:

Quote

Naming and shaming the alleged misconduct of another individual, including but not limited to accusations of cheating or exploiting.

Just a heads up to keep yourself inline with PGI's policies.

If it was a Hunchback IIC with some ER mediums and a range module, he could hit you at like 700m. But that's about it. You're clearly either overestimating the distance, or it's a bug. I'm highly inclined you're exaggerating.

He was playing as IS. NOT clan. I had my reticle right on him. I was standing on the highest knoll right in front of the base on Boreal. He was standing in the right gate. 1084 meters.

TL;DR: Probably not.

Longer: If it was actually dealing damage, then it's suspect.

What's most likely is that the laser draw extends out quite a bit further than the ML actually deals damage. As a result, it "reaches" you at 1km, produces the sound effect and even makes sparklies in your field of vision, but doesn't deal damage.

Unless you were the only ones on the field, any damage taken was most likely due to another opponent, or dropship, or turret, outside your immediate field of vision. It happens more often than I'd like :(

None of that is to say it didn't happen, just that its least likely that someone has hacked the game mechanics. Report it, with pics/video if you got 'em. The devs may keep it quiet, but it'll give them some more data to keep tabs on shenanigans and work behind the scenes.

Ed: grammar

Grid iron has +30% range quirk which gives MLs about 380m optimal range or so with range module (so over 750m max range). Still not 1km though. You sure it was MLs? LLs would reach out to well overy 1200m.
