Way back in the day, the Battletech 3025 MUSE had a set up where all the factions had landed on a certain planet, and over a persistent world you could fight for control of factories, space ports and other resource locations. In that game, each faction brought the resources back and could use them to assemble new mechs to replace ones lost while fighting. In a MWO framework that could translate to bonuses for cash or exp - or unlocking access to a certain mech. Maybe have something like a Star League Cache (Crashed Clan dropship?) in the center, and whoever controls that location gets to use a special unit while their faction holds that location.

This could be implemented in one of two ways:

1) In depth expansion of Community Warfare to include running battles across the planet under contention.

2) Sister project - MWO 3025/3056 (whatever timeline you wanted to highlight - anything different would be good) Planet name - some often raided planet in the center of the IS, or near the Clan occupation zone, etc.

(My response to another thread in general discussion, brought over to this forum for cross reference.)

Of course he read the CW blog. This is a suggestion forum. He is suggesting. I too would like a persistent map one of these days. Where 108, 216, 432?!?! 'mechs of various factions could fight for control of X.

Maps could be so large that they have various terrain too.

On that note I would like maps so large that wars like Tukayyid could be found. [like Tukayyid, not THE Tukayyid]. Battalions from several factions squaring off to stomp each other into the ground.
