CW maps don't make aesthetic sense. Vitric Forge, your planet is near a blue star. Every other map seems to belong to a different planet. What more, with every planet they all look the same.

I propose that the skies should differ from one planet to another. If the planet is near a blue star, then every battle in that planet should be under that blue star. Variable skies and lighting may affect how each map looks, but hey, the point they look differently each time can add a bit to the feeling of immersion, and most importantly, the feeling of being in an alien planet.

Each planet should have a unique battle experience. These include standardized temperatures for all battles in that planet, with each planet having a different temperature from each other

Another is that each planet should have uniquely different drop weights. This is the result of different logistics to that planet, and the differing political and strategic value to that planet. A planet with a high strategic value should pull a high drop weight, while a planet with low strategic value, or far from hub planets or space lanes should pull a low drop weight. Planets should also differentiate themselves from different rewards as well.

A planet that is closer to one faction's hubs or strategic planets can get a higher drop weight, while being farther can reduce that faction's drop weight. The result is that for different factions, drop weights will differ for each, and won't be equal.

A hub or strategic planet is one that will give a high drop weight for all nearby planets. Capturing it will give that faction an advantage in drop weights compared to other factions in that area. This will force "decisive" battle events for that area.

Drop weight variance should be around 180 to 280, with 240 set as "normal" for much travel around the Inner Sphere, assuming a straight line or Line of Sight from a hub planet. If star travel lane LoS is impeded by the loss and capture of a planet in enemy hands, factions traveling to planets impeded by the loss of LoS will have their drop weights reduced. Thus a faction should also select which planets to attack and defend in order to clear space lanes that their allies can avail, or which they themselves can travel to help allies.

In special exceptions, the most valued strategic planets for example, we can drop weights as high as 300.
