Ok.. my first actual thread I am starting.

For the sake of mine (and maybe other people's) sanity.. I would like to know how I would be notified if I did end up getting a beta key at some point?

I am assuming I would first get an email asking me to digitally sign the NDA and then get given the beta key itself. I am assuming that this notification will be through email rather than through the website forums or website notification system.

If I knew that I didn't have to keep checking here every hour, then I could sit back and relax a little more to wait for the email to arrive, if it ever does before Aug 7th..

Does anyone know how beta key invites are sent?

The big yellow pending banner will turn green and say accepted and you will get an email.

^ Should not have been hard to figure out. See that big "BETA STATUS PENDING"? I'm pretty sure that would change.

yeah iirc, notified via the email you use to sign in.... be sure to check your "spam" box too just to be safe! =)

Yup.. that's what I was hoping. Then I don't need to keep coming to check that big "BETA STATUS" thing every hour.. obviously that will change.. but the point of my question was whether I would need to effectively be "here" to know.. or whether I could just wait for an email..

The next time you log in, you will see a flash animation of a Steiner scout lance "scout" the yellow pending at the top of your screen, followed by an Atlas punch to the pending while the other 3 atlases carry over an "accepted" sign to put over your account.

After that, an atlas dressed up as Uncle Sam shows up, points at you and goes "I want you for Closed Beta!"

The SUN is what is making us not get into beta! Its brightness is bleeding through our monitors keeping the PENDING™ glowing yellow .

With a great lurch you awaken. The darkness shrouds around you in mystery. You try to call out but your lips utter a mere pittance as your dry throat lurches in pain. Slowly the darkness descends again, dragging you back into the depths of eternal slumber.

Suddenly like the rushing of a torrential river voices pierce through your eardrums. Nausea rises as your body is thrown upright. You feel a spear penetrate your lips as a cup of water is offered. The torrent that escapes into your mouth brings a blistering cold as you are slowly restored.

Slowly they cut away at the restraints keeping you from the land of the living. The bandages scruff against your forhead as the creatures cut away at your slavery to the darkness. The light appears, a shimmering yellow that grows as your eyes soak in every last photon. Yes, you can finally see.

The days pass, not with a timeless slumber of a slow sleepless melody but the uplifting waltz that lifts your soul to ever greater heights. You have escaped from your prison, your curse. Even as you grow accustomed to your frail, underutilized body you grow stronger. Your first meal ended up on the floor but you slowly regained your appetite and the piercing IV is slowly pulled from your ravaged limb. Eventually you go home to your lonely place, the flowers and baloons from a celebration long forgotten. You power up your computer, eager to devour what you have desired your entire life. The yearning grows as the screen flashes.

But only the yellow pending appears before your eyes. The life slowly fades away. All the desire boils into a seething poison. Slowly the yellow fades into darkness. The tears strain down your cheeks as the despair rips apart your heart. Red flashes in your eyes as your heart skips several beats and convulses to the rage that seethes from the deepest part of your soul. You can no longer be trapped in a mortal body as your heart races before crashing into a horrible explosion. The pain almost knocks you out cold. You wish it had for the chilly darkness that clawed at your vision slowly devoured everything. The last thing you feel is the salt as your tears drip off of your cheeks.

Detectives find no trace in yet another long line of mysterious deaths.

IIRC you will receive an owl, a la Harry Potter with a note saying you have been chosen. Shortly thereafter, a shimmering individual will run up, grab said owl. And bite its poor little head off. No my friends. It is not Ozzy. It is that lady lookalike from those vampire movies. But fret not, soon he's trampled by large creatures. So large that you can't mistake them for humans, but they are kinda blue... insert some kind of "Avatar" reference.... then... something truly wonderful appears. Could it be?!?!?!?

And im going to bed.

(the only people who know, aint tellin. but I guess it is an email or some other kind of electronic notification)

Yet another excel spreadsheet. *sigh*. What is up with these ********* accountants and their ever present spreadsheets. As you switch between various forums, outlook, and the extensive codebase you don't really have anything else to work on.

Suddenly you are transported to another world, another dimension. Looking down you feel the comforting presence of your assault rifle and the camouflaged ferroplate carrier that provides you with a mediocum of protection against this hostile environment. *Thud*...*thud*...*thud*. The rhythmic sound grows in volume as your heart strains to match its slow pace. You look around for cover, realizing that to be caught out in the open would be a sure way to a quick and painful death. Moving forward you spot the sentry of the camp you are invading.

You stop, take aim a sight in. Knowing that the range is too great for automatic fire you switch the selector to single shot. Carefully you raise your rifle while supporting against the tree. One...Two... The first bullet glances off his ferroplate, throwing him forward, the second scores through the side of his neck and slashes his tunge. As you pass you can hear the gurgling as he struggles against the lake of blood forming in his mouth and throat.

Coming forward you see a sight for sore eyes. You slowly approach the battlemech you were tasked to steal. You go to the gantry, noting the various places armor had been wielded on with makeshift repairs. Several voices rang as they noticed you but it was too late. Quickly you climb into the cockpit and close the hatch. You reach into your bag for the command circuits that would allow you to fight your way to freedom.

Time ticks away as you rush to finish your work. Thud, Thud, Thud. The other mech is closing, you squirm as the screwdriver refuses to cooperate. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. The module flies out, forgotten as mere junk. Thud. Thud. Thud. You throw in the replacement module and latch it down. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. The monitors spring to life as the butterflies in your stomach seek flight. The fusion engine begins its low thrumble as it powers to life. Thud. Thud. Thud.

I suppose your Beta Status will change from "Pending" to "Play it now before the other people with pending status tear down your house searching for your beta key"
