Someone make my mind up for me. Debating on the archer pack.

I have the other classics and it would complete the alpha lance, but I don't really collect, I like viable.

Clammers should never sully the Classics with their greasy test tube baby hands.

But while I expect pooh for hitboxes/geometry, they look too sweet, and have too interesting of hardpoints for me to pass up.

But then...I'm not a filthy clammer!

If anything, it will be yet another SRM mech brawler mech. Since LRM's on this thing are going to be a non-starter for many people, and IS streak 2's are terrible.

You'll largely be getting better missile/laser combinations than most of the Catapults, with 5 tons more total mass, but no jets. If you can make a Catapult or Mad Dog work, this thing will be plenty playable for you.

I did a cost analysis on the Marauder and came to the conclusion that is was such a bargain with the premium time, modules, C-Bills, Mech bays and other goodies, that cost was a non issue. Do you like the looks of it? Does it fill a need in your CW drop deck? Do you imagine enjoying the missile play style, both LRM and SRM?

If you can justify the purchase to fill your 'fun' vibe, I'd go for it.

mmmmm.. Dragon meets Mad Dog hitboxes, IS XL engines..... SRM Brawler I doubt. At least for very long. (Can be built with an STD mind you, but not terribly fast or cool one...which I personally don't find very survivable a combo)

Looks like a bunch of catapaults with the hitbox design of dragons. Also GIANT missile bay doors that are going get you shot to hell.

Im debating as well whether or not to buy the Archer now, or wait. I didnt buy the Rifleman, but I did buy the Warhammer and Marauder.

To be honest I wish PGI would have spread out the tonnage of the new mechs. We've had a 75, a 70, a 60, and now another 70 ton mech be offered up. I wished they would have done the Phoenix Hawk or another medium mech prior to release another heavy. But hey, beggars cant be choosers, right?

I'm glad to see the Archer, I am. But I'm on the fence as to buy/not buy. I might just wait until it is available for MC/C-bills like the Rifleman.

Unfortunately, the Phoenix Hawk is the ONLY Macross unseen medium.

The remaining Macross mechs are:

Marauder II (100 ton assault)
Longbow (80 ton assault)

Crusader (65 ton heavy)
Ostsol (60 ton heavy)
Ostroc (60 ton heavy)

Phoenix Hawk (45 ton medium)

Valkyrie (30 ton light)
Ostscout (30 ton light)
Wasp (20 ton light)
Stinger (20 ton light)

The Ostscout is almost unplayable (stock it's a 30 ton mech that moves like a Spider with even less weaponry), the Wasp and Stinger are questionable (may end up with Commando-like speed and jets)... Valkyrie would be cool, in between Panther and Jenner speed with comparable hardpoints.

Not exactly a lot of medium choices, y'know? ;) But the PHX would be a 45 ton mech that moves like Stormcrow with jets, energy and ballistic points in the arms.

Ostsol is just a Dragon-speed energy boat, Ostroc is Dragon-speed eergy witha token missile launcher... Crusader is missiles, lasers, and MGs; he's going to compete with Jagermechs and Thunderbolts.

Longbow is just a massive LRM boat stock, not much you can do with it. Marauder II would be interesting, imagine a narrower, taller King Crab with no missiles, energy in the arms, a torso ballistic or energy (depending on model), and jump jets.

The $20 pack is a no-brainer. It's $12 for 30 day premium. $8 more and you get 3 mechs, some modules, and c-bills. Not sure about the Hero, though.

$15 for a mechbay and a mid-range heavy mech... An ECM-capable mid-range heavy with a good mix of missiles and lasers. A 70 ton hero plus mechbay is 5550 MC (300 bay + 5250 for the mech). Based on the price of a $30/6500MC package, that would normally cost around $25.50... Really good value compared to normal prices.

I wasn't going to buy it, but your breakdown made alot of sense and swung me over, thanks.

Two Mechs I would love to see in game that I use to use a lot on TT. Stingers where so fun to swarm assualt mechs with and take them down.

Why not?

If you have the $, then buy the pack, the freebies that come with it are good.
Its an Archer. Only gonna be as good as you are.

The artwork looks really good.

Hate to be kicking yourself when they do come out and you didnt get one...

I am debating also, as I am not an LRM kind of person and tends to stick playing on CW most of the time.

You assume they'll even give you missile bay doors... Remember the Vindicator and its gag inducing missile torso? It was such a beautiful concept mech and got turned into a missile tube igor.

That's the reason I bought one today. The question for me is Should I Up Grade?

ECM capable hero with Mech Bay, nice hard points and a 30% C-Bill boost seems like a good bet to me for $15.00.

On one hand, you could not buy the Archer pack. On the other hand, it is an Archer, so you should buy it.
