I think the problem isn't super critical, as MWO can be run on relative toasters. I'm getting about 50 FPS average (highs in the 70s, lows in the 30s) on a ThinkPad laptop, with low-med settings and at 720p. Even a low-end gaming-oriented rig should easily top this.

That said, I agree MWO definitely runs poorly considering the detail level. The FPS should be better.

I really have to wonder what you guys are running this on.

I'm currently on an i7 with 8gig of RAM and a Geforce 770 all on Windows 10 and I never drop below 60FPS.

My PC is middle of the road these days. Not top tier. If you're going to upgrade save it so you can go top of the line. Don't get something that's incremental... or you know... buy cheap, buy twice.

Are you guys on potatoes? D:

Some of us aren't big gamers, beyond MWO. That makes you a lot more reluctant to buy a new PC -- If I were to buy a proper gaming rig, it'd be for MWO alone. I've considered it, but can't quite justify not putting that money toward the mortgage etc. instead.

Maybe they need to look at specific cards or drivers that have problems. People have been running this game fine for years.

This is the reason right here.. Wonky weird systems, and typically laptops are to blame. If you are having performance issues then run a DX-diag, and send it off to support.

My computer is average at best.. It cost me 600 dollars 2+ years ago. It's just an i5 3.1, with a TI 550 and 8 gigs of ram.. this system costs around 400 dollars atm? My previous which did have some issues was an 8500 duo core with 4 gigs.. which started out as a 9800 GTX, but eventually got bumped to the TI when they went to 12 man teams. The system was at least 5 years old at the time..

It is the main reason why buying a reference system, and using Reference drivers are one of the best ways to insure good performance.. get solid parts from good companies and you should never have a performance related Driver issue. I have run asus and nivida for over 10 yaers now, and am almost always under spec for tons of games, but typically have no performance issues, even when pushing graphics higher.

Steam player here. It runs great in Dx11. Everything maxed with txaa. I think the comment that it's more cpu than gpu dependant is valid.
Specs: I7-3820@4.3 ghz
EVGA Gtx 980ti superclocked acx 2.0
Gskills ripjaws 16gb @2133
144hz monitor at 1080p

This game has performance problems.

My computer isn't great, but if it's one of the foggy levels, especially with thermal, everything bogs down like crazy.

i7 2.9gh
16gb
win10
gtx960
med settings with particles low, pp and aa off, dx11, 64 bit client

I can't run 1080 during combat, I have it a setting or two lower.

Your CPU is probably crap. 2.9 ghz on an i7? Either low tier EQ or old as foak....This game is CPU dependant.

Well i guess amd sucks balls ar running mwo. Runs armored warfare which has the same cryengine 3 mwo uses far far better. In armored warfare max settings. Turned shadows to medium everything on ultra hi 50s fps average 80% of the time. Which is alot more consistent then mwo.
I only dropped to low 40s when we had a crazy tank zerg and 30 tanks were plugging each others face off with ap rounds.... fun stuff

When people are above the specifications set by PGI and the performance is still poor, yeah it is an issue dude.

No, minimum requirements means the game runs, there is a reason why ther eis also a recommneded requiremnt nowdays.

What CPU had your old PC? 2.9ghz is quite low in ym opnion also heat maybe, lots of laptops have a crappy cooling which then forces them to cap the actual possible e performance. thats bad for gaming because it then only works when CPU calculates other stuff not gaming related.

Also see that your energysettings are correctly setted to maximum performance, otheriwse the laptop my throttle you CPU up and down quite often which also eats performance and causes drops and raises in FPS.

The "Minimum" requirement is 2X the "Recommended" for most games these days. ;)

P.S. 30 Tanks, "all firing 1 weapon", is not even close to being the same load on a computer as 25 Mechs, all firing a minimum of "4 weapons each", with many of those 24 firing as many as "8-9 weapons all at once". ;)

pfff....I doubt this will ever be fixed.

Really frustrated me in 2 games I had just now.

My suggestion: take frozen city completly out of rotation. Its worst on that map.

Agreed.

I5-4670k-3.9gh
gtx760sc
gskill 8gig ram-2133

Can play crysis, fallout4, all bioshock games and a bunch others on high/ultra with only a loss of 5fps

But if I shoot a wall pointblank in MWO I net a loss of 15fps and in a heavy firefight I lose 20-30fps.

3 years ago I had 140fps with dips of 115fps, but now it's 90 to 35. Every update takes 1-2 fps away.

Yeah, kinda sad.

I mean I get great fps 90 % of the times.

Nontheless, like on frozen city/snow storm and in some other situations, the fps gets ultra bad.

This is particularly frustrating in a competitive online game where the ability to react instantly and aim perfectly means everything. If you cannot do that, you will get owned badly by ppl who apparently do not suffer from this fps loss.

It takes much away from the gaming experience. Playing under those circumstances isnt fun.

Im forced to play it though as you cannot leave the game.

Its also kinda weird and sad, that the devs simply ignore this issue. Or maybe its the engine and they simply cannot fix it. But then it would be nice to take all of that thermal vision thing completly out of the game.

I mean thermal vision would be nice, even though I think everythign looks ugly in thermal, but if it simply doesnt work and hinders the game experience on such a level....then I dont really understand why they leave it in the game.
