If they include a down view camera angle you can jump to while jump jetting, than dfa might be a viable tactic.

It is a tactic if you are running out of ammo and your energy weapons are destroyed. from the dfa you will get damage too. even you have the chance to fall, this will get you more damage. in an infight, with more mechs around you will be a nice target then. AND your target is not standing still. it will be funny to see a lot of guys jumping around trying to hit others head. will be more funny to get those guys out of the air B)

in the table top, DFA was tough to execute as there are a lot of factors to consider, distance of movement and speed of the target, then there's piloting skill. I would love to try it but actually hitting your target is going to be a ..umm... bear. cause if you do hit your target, great, but if you miss, you are definitely going to take a lot of damage. I'd like to see charging, punching and kicking. Clubbing a enemy mech with his own arm would be AWESOME also. provided your mech has hands, but that's probably not going to happen. we'll have to wait & see

kicks and punches would be possible i think. maybe clubbing too. depends on the skills of the attacker.

DFA is all good and fun but it would have to have disadvantages for missing and such, or it will just be a bunch of jumpers like halo.

this is from ask the devs6 http://mwomercs.com/...devs-6-answers/

Q: Are jumpjet mechs "Death From Above" tactics included in the game design yet? Keyword searches and reading through the posted material, I've so far failed to find discussion on the topic. I doubt it has been overlooked so it's probably just a lack of discovery on my part. [Jaxwen]
A: Death From Above is planned, yes. [GARTH]

i think i've read somewhere that while trying d.f.a. your point of view changes to make it easier to hit

Anyone remember playing MW2 back in the day of 28k and 33.6k modems? DFA against another player was an incredibly hard thing to do because you had to change your POV on the fly *and* land right on their head, hoping your opponent wouldn't move while you were doing this.

Do you really want to waste a lot of time trying to perfect this when you should be shooting?

Watching the gameplay videos and how fast the mechs move I doubt anyone will be able to execute a DFA attack properly =P

well, in the tt game, there is a very low chance of a dfa landing base role of 4 + pilot skill + movment mod,

Could be a DFA by accident too, maybe? You take off jumping over a small hill to surprise an enemy 'mech and WHAM, he moved under you not knowing ypu were in flight.

Sadly they aren't letting Assaults get jets. So if you were hoping to drop out of the sky as an Atlas and flatten a Commando, you're out of luck.

So far, physical attacks are in. BUT, those physical attacks are limited to Ramming, and Death From Above :P . There's even a pilot skill that will be implemented that reduces the damage to you from a DFA attack. Punch in different search criteria next time. Most of this info is out there, it just might take a few tries to find it on the forums :D .

If this guy's right... I'm happy :D

The top of an Atlas is really just the designated parking spot for my Jenner.

But they don't say if he took any damage?

You know if the jumping kid had skipped the jump, the swimmer would have hit the side.
