If you are not dropping with a team with a specific strategy, then you should not be building a bunch of overly specific "roles" for your mechs.

What you want are builds that are flexible, and are strong in the majority of circumstances - since you have no control over the actual situation/map/team, etc.

4x Heavies will fit the bill and with 265 tons available it's very doable.

So

4x Thunder Bolts

or

3x Thunder Bolts + 1x Grasshopper

or

2x Thunder Bolt + 1x Quick Draw + 1x Marauder/Black Knight

etc. (can sub Jagers or Catapults in for Thunderbolts)

I'd probably have one of those heavies set up for mid/short range (300-400m) loadout and one for extended range (650+) and the other two would be mid-range builds (400-600m) Large Lasers or Large Pulse lasers w/ quirks for example).

One of my current decks is 6LL Stalker, a brawly Victor, and two random fifty tonners. Hunchbacks are way underrated now that the Blackjack got it's bulletproof hide, but still very good mediums. Crabs haven't been mentioned, but they tank so well that they are worth a shot.

If you plan on bringing lrms, please please please don't waste tonnage on it. Every once in a while I'll bring out my beloved treb, but I feel dirty afterwards. My current guilty pleasure is an lrm huginn, at least that way I still have three really good mechs to help my team with.

Contrary to what people are saying on here, lrms are not going to be junked because of ecm. The recent nerf coupled with iic madness gives you plenty of opportunities to rain on them. My issue with lrms is that they just aren't as effective as other weapons.

If you have a spot and don't want to use srms for some reason, a lighter LRM can at least let you smack what folks are targeting till you get line of sight.

I've had some good times with my Cicadas lately in CW, but my Awesomes are still going to be garaged.
