Well I don't think there's any rule about name and shaming those players on Reddit or other forums. Screenshot it/video it and let the shaming begin.

Wasn't someone banned for posting something on Reddit? I don't think it was a name / shame, but rather a criticism of PGI, but I'm pretty sure I remember this happening...

Yup... and there isn't a thing you can do if you are banned. You can literally be banned for any reason at any time according to the terms, so I wouldn't recommend toeing any clearly drawn lines (such as naming and shaming). Check it out:

1. Termination by Us. We may, in our sole discretion, suspend, restrict or terminate your use of the PGI Offerings, your Content or your Account, effective at any time, without notice to you, for any reason, including if the operation or efficiency of the PGI Offerings or our or any third party’s equipment or network is impaired by your use of the PGI Offerings, we have received a third party complaint which relates to your use or misuse of the PGI Offerings, or you have been or are in breach of any term or condition of this Agreement.

Emphasis added by me.

At the same time, in the future when planning to do ambushes, you should announce your intentions in the team chat.

You should know as well as I do, that trying to explain one's self to the trolls is, in fact, FEEDING the trolls. It MAY work once in a while. But for the most part you will just get that much more keyboard rage from the others because you engaged them. Best to just ignore, play your game, and drive on.

IN PUG, I should say. Group queue is a whole other ball o' wax, and it's more expected that you'll be communicating well with your team there.

Although, if you're the last one left and are facing significant odds (3-to-1 or worse), it really doesn't matter much either way.

When your teammate legitimately is trolling and heads to a far off pocket of the map and shuts down, preventing you from queuing up for your next game in that mech. I never do it unless I am absolutely sure they are afk.

The only two aspects of this action that actually prevent you from doing anything is you wanting to see your end of match info, or you aren't flexible enough in your play to drop in a different mech for the next match. I agree that someone needlessly extending the match is wrong, but no matter what, it is at worst inconveniencing the other players, and they all have the option to leave the match and drop in a different mech. Being unwilling to do this is in no way a valid reason to ruin someone else's game.

I sometimes use All Chat after I've died to send compliments to my enemy (or harass a friend who is on the enemy team).

However, due to it's ease of abuse... I wouldn't be too opposed to All Chat being turned off if you're dead.

Sometimes people (newer players) only have one variant of their chosen mech available. Reporting the position of these players who purposely shut down and go afk to waste peoples time in non-conquest maps should be okay to do. I just cannot see why anyone would oppose giving their coordinates in this specific situation. If I can tell they are shutting down to set up an ambush, I obviously will not give the coordinates, but when I see a spider jumpjet into E2 on Frozen City and tuck himself into a crevice and power down, with 5-10 enemies still alive, I know he is just trolling at that point.

The only time this is acceptable to do is when you are in a point based match and shutting down will hide you long enough for your team to win on points.

just an FYI, according to the rules it is never acceptable to give away an "allies" position, even it he/she hid in a corner, powered down then disconnected,
however in the situation I just described it is extremely unlikely anyone will report you for it, and getting reported several times across several games, in a relatively short length of time is the only way you are likely to get into trouble.

not quite the same thing but after getting my first teamkill with me a few months into the game, way back in open beta, I was concerned that I might get banned for it, (I think I am now up-to 17 teamkills, all accidental, over about 3 years and 5 months), I have never got into trouble for them
