When I played table top Battletech, I'd refer to piloting skill rolls as 'stagger checks'. I don't know... I envisioned Mechs getting hit with 78 damage in the weapon attack phase getting rocked back and looking either drunk or under a barrage, trying to maintain balance. Since I am not a particularly amazing pilot in game, I figure it fits. :P

My online gaming history, especially the competitive side started in the late 90's with the Close Combat series and "Case's Ladder" which was the major competitive scene for it back then. I went by Marauder6.

After serving in Afghanistan and catching the nickname Lukos from some Romanian gents we were working with, I ended up taking on the moniker Lukoi (plural of the nickname because we worked as a team) from 2002 onward. Been using it in every game since. Sometimes I use a couple of alt names (mainly as I find Lukoi periodically taken if I'm not the first guy into a game sadly).

Ah THAT Bishop. Just recently watched the Alien movies on TV, good old stuff.

Ayup.

Funny how few people make that connection. Always the religious thing or the X men character.

Alien and Aliens are IMO two of the best sci fi films ever made.

...just saying...

BigJim (of BigJim & his Flyboys fame) was my worms captain back in the Amiga days, and I've used the same name for every game ever since...

I was rather uncreative in my handle/callsign. Didn't feel right choosing one for myself or one that I didn't earn. Someday someone will bestow upon me a good one that I can call my own.

And no, the ones my wife calls me are not appropriate.......

Mine comes from the first MMO i played, which became the first time i got really involved in an online gaming community. It was a Korean MMO, and the race i picked were robots that looked very much like the robot team from Unreal Tournament 2004, which i played a lot.. one of those robots is called Widowmaker, i liked it so i picked that name and then i played that game and others for so long with the guild i joined that the name is stuck now.. if its taken i just add my year of birth.

My first online game was GEnie's EGA MPBT 3025 in the early nineties and had to create a character name. Since I had never roleplayed or did anything that required creating a name I went through several books I had in my bookcase. When I saw Tarnsman of Gor with the primary character Tarl Cabot I knew I had find my name. His name is actual close to my real name, I think that is why it clicked.

As for the book, I had purchased the first one about 9 years prior while heading home from school where I was a freshman (9th grade) at a local 7-11 bookrack. The series though the author gets longer winded the further the series got Posted Image But ya cannot go wrong with large birds, big cats, swords, science and half-naked women (and men for others...)!!!

Went from EGA to Solaris to EA 3025 to here.

loved me some Aliens.

Wondered where you got the Bishop part from and now I know.

I'm more of an Alien fan then the second. First movie the ever really terrorized me as a kid, still love it. Love it so much, bought a real Nostromo flight jacket from a prop house auction.

My name? Originates from my Father and his group of friends. As a teen, he went camping with his friends and lots of beer, just like me., One trip, they made a sign and hung it over the tent and empty beer cans and took a pic of all them together. Sign said TWIAFU. Once I was old enough, told me about the sign, its meaning, his friends. Since then, adopted it as my own.

Been with me ever since in many places....

I came to this game to do battle in mechs. But I'm a fan of mecha anime, so out of habit I spelled it out Mechabattler. But my former primary account is Tezcatli. Short for Tezcatlipoca, which in the native nahuatl language translates to "Smoking Mirror". He's an Aztec diety. I choose him because I'd read he's considered the dark aspect of Quetzalcoatl. And in other parts they're brothers. It gets confusing depending on where you read up about it. I usually prefer to have a proper name when playing games online. But I can always wave away Mechabattler as a call sign. And I like when people call me Mecha.

Name comes from a character that is mentioned for about 2 minutes in the kids show Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Daughter was bored one day so looked online for good kids series and it was always near the top. I installed MWO just after we watched the Melon Lord episode, and it was the first name that entered my mind (I HATE having to pick unique names for games).

The series was pretty good (especially or a kids show), I heard it even made it's way onto adult lists of best TV series of all time. Well deserved I say, it's like the Pixar of kids TV shows, enjoyable for adults who would normally rather gouge their eyes out than watch the things kids usually watch.

I've had this name since I was a wee lad playing Dungeons and Dragons in the 1980's. The proper spelling is J'zaltheral.

I like Scythe's. I think they are pretty cool. Sadly, "Scythe" was already taken so I got pissed.

On a sidenot: I love how many people can't pronounce Scythe. That wrathful just makes it worse for those people. Posted Image

I used to play an MMO called Vanguard: Saga of Heroes where I was a Barbarian and I used a random name generator for that name. After a while everyone knew me by that or my real name so it kinda stuck since I don't like using my real name for gaming. I made up the first name "James Barantor" and added it to a short story that I wrote into Battletech lore for a little fun. I usually have names that start with B, so I used it for twitter, twitch and the rest is history now.
