That's it? I spent $1290 so far. That's $27 monthly over 4 years,

I spent 30 bucks a month for 8+ years playing starwars galaxies... Then add in an extra 15 for a bunch of years for my third character.. then toss in an extra 15 bucks a month because i also played City of heroes for 4+ years...

I haven't even hit the cost of one account for one year in this game, This game is such a deal! Posted Image

PS, i did just add a clan account, and i'm gonna pick up a 30 dollar MC pack for it, and add a timber Hero to help me grind GXP, and skip a bit of the grind so i can add 3 Nova's..

I keep my MWO receipts in their own folder just to remind myself why I need to log back in and play from time to time. I can't count the number of times I've bought a month of premium time for one night of drunken MWO.

Mostly because I don't remember them very well Posted Image

Yes, they are fools with a lack of impuls control and/or too much disposable income who are responsible that PGI can continue with this godaweful monetization model selling overpriced stuff to whales instead of adjusting the prices to make it attractive to the average player. $5 for 1 out of 100 colours, $20 for 1 of 100 mechs, $5 for 1 of 100 patterns. Only a fool would support that nonsense.

How much is "too much disposable income", and why do you feel it necessary to brand me and everyone else as having "a lack of impulse control"?

I can assure you I have quite a firm grasp on my personal finances, and what I've spent on MWO hasn't taken anything away from me or my family. I even paid rent and bills for my out-of-work son for the two-and-a-half years it took him to get re-trained and land a new job - and while I did I also bought 'mech packs and it didn't make me go broke. Why? I'm a well-paid professional that's been employed for the last 25+ years.

Does that seem like a foolish person with a lack of impulse control to anyone else?

Only a fool deals in absolutes.

Some of us can bear the financial "burden" so others don't have to. I've done my part - willingly, I might add, so nobody gets any ideas - and so it seems has many others in this thread. Who are you to call us fools?

I told you why you are fools and your actions hurt the monetization of the game in the long term. It was in those parts of my post that you chose so conveniently to ignore. Fool.

Ive never spent any money...im eeking up on 30 mechbays, I have 3,100 MC in the bank, around 20 colors, ive mastered almost all the IS mechs. Working on Clams now.

Ive got almost 40 dollars worth of Priority Airstrikes...

The last time I worked it out (maybe ill dig up the thread) I had about 2,500 dollars worth of "stuff" ive gotten just from playing, using the mid range MC pack price as a value setter.

No, the only thing hurting the monetization of the game, is the monetization of the game.

Digital goods are practically worthless. Thats the problem. Not the whale whose getting his rocks off.

Saying StJobe is a fool, is pretty much the most foolish thing ive ever heard.

If you make more than 40k a year, and you want to drop 1,000 dollars on MWO a year. KNOCK YOURSELF OUT BABY =D

Ill enjoy it that much more when my free stuff kills your Oxide or Golden Direwolf. It takes all kinds.

Without me, youd have no one to shoot at. With out people like StJobe, id have no game play. PGI would have closed up shop and gone back to hunting games. I appreciate everyone who spends money, just as much as I appreciate those whose dont.

The only fools, are the ones arguing with each other about thier personal choices, when those choices dont effect you at all.

If youre mad at how much stuff costs. Dont buy it.

I think all digital goods are sub 1$ value. I wouldnt give you 50 cents for a Gold Direwolf. I wont give you a quarter for a Top Dog, Oxide, or Grid Iron. I wont give you 10 cents for a color.

That hasnt stopped me from getting these things...having spent nothing...so why do you care what other people spend? If you want to spend 1,000 dollars on a Grid Iron...go for it.

Ill grind contests, events, and community run tournies for my stuff thank you. Then we can have fun shooting each others gundams.

Get over yourselves.

Note my Siggy..... I'm not hating. I'm the infamous White Knight of MWO, just ask the "anti-PGI" clique.

Nope, I'm just saying that I have spent more on a free to play game than some people earn in certain 3rd world nations in a year. Which is somewhat sobering.

Yup, its mind blowing when you think about the nuts and bolts of it. It really goes to show how economics isnt a science. Its a phenomena we just sort of have to endure.

Most MMO's use to charge sub 15$ X12 months = $180 + box price $60 = $240 for the first year. Then $180 per year for ever! I usually try to keep my spending on par with that. You are a bit high Posted Image

This is one of the reasons of the f2p transition some people spend less but lots of other people spend 10 times more then what a company would get for box price plus a monthly sub. In a sense your paying for someone else!

Okay. I originally left those parts out because they are rather indicative of a less than stellar economic intelligence, but since you persist, I'll have to address them:

View PostEzekeel666, on 27 December 2015 - 10:46 AM, said:

Only a fool would support that nonsense.

So you argue the following:
* People who spend money on MWO are fools
* They are fools because they enable PGI's monetization model
* PGI's monetization model is "godaweful [sic]" and "overpriced".
* If people stopped spending money on MWO PGI would have to adjust prices,
* Then the average player would find it more attractive.

Is that about the long and short of it? Now here's the problem:

PGI doesn't care about whether one whale brings in $1,000 or a hundred "average players" bring in $1,000 - they get their $1,000 either way.

There is zero guarantee that lowering prices would increase revenue; it might, but it might also do the exact opposite. It is self-evident that the monetization model PGI is currently employing is successful, or the game (and perhaps company) would have shut down already. If it works and it makes them enough money to do what they want to do, why change it?

Also, I'm not convinced that the "average player" agrees with your assessment of MWO's pricing model. Seeing as, you know, people seem to buy 'mech packs like they're going out of style. Us whales, we're not all that many.

So now, instead of calling people fools for paying for the game you (hopefully) play, perhaps you can show your brilliance by showing how YOU would guarantee that lowering prices would increase revenue by such an amount it would overcome the overhead of reworking the monetization model.

Lowering prices still wont make me spend money.

Nor will anyone who thinks like I do about F2P games, or digital purchases. Sorry Eze. Thems the facts.

They could put a 60 dollar one time price tag on EVERYTHING in unlimited amounts, and I still wouldnt spend it.

Play events. Play community run events. Play well. Be a valuable member of the community.

Ive gotten alot of gifts since they started doing gifts, simply because I support my ingame friends, their units, and participate actively in the community.

Whenever theres struggle, whereever there is a MWO player in need, fighting for a place to stand, waiting patiently with an open hand...look in their eyes ma'. Krafty will be there.

Aint no one here gonna let a guy with a great attitude struggle. If i could gift my cbill purchased mechs, id arm all the noobs. ALL THE NOOBS.

Its been 922 days since you started playing.

$545 spent

$0.59 per day

So less than many people spend on a getting a cup of coffee from a shop per day.

Not bad for a hobby.
