Welp ...

After hopping over the fene from IS to Clan and back a few times I really have to wonder about people .
Such a plethora of useable machines and playstyles on both sides, and still there are so many that have problems .
Makes me a bit of a sad panda, honestly, because having those problems RIGHT NOW says one thing very clearly :
I WANT MY "I-WIN" BUTTON

To exemplify :

IS can bring dropdecks covering each and every range as well as Clans .
Just need to have them .
Just need to play them to their strengths .

Right now I can only say that I never saw that many different mechs being "useable" in CW since it first got implemented .
Use the growing pool of worthwhile mechs, there are so so so many .
And please, guys, don´t be afraid to ask for builds and pointers towards playstyles, be it on the forums (which are literally chockfull of damn good builds and discussions about how to best use them) or ingame, since most of us "BIG BAD EVIL MERC UNITS" spread our knowledge, for free, without charge or strings attached .

The one thing we really should pressure PGI on would be turning on chat, teamchat and VoIP BY DEFAULT .
Having it turned off by default is a ridiculously idiotic move for a teambased stompy-robot game, which in turn just shows how much influence whining and asocial people have .

this +1

And while we're at it, please keep all members of a dropgroup stay "ready" by default, after cancelling a prematch screen.

BTT: BS! I make sooo much more money dropping on clan side, I start to miss it Posted Image

If PGI wanted a fully balanced Mechwarrior game CW and PUGlife they should have kept it IS only. Balanced and fair.

If PGI wanted CW to be balanced and fair with IS vs Clans then they should have implemented resource management (Mechs, dropships, etc). Then you'd see Clans needing to spread out their resources and playing like they would need to, to keep those resources.

Lore.... it's what made Battletech/Mechwarrior what it is. It's what drew most of us here. In CW matches today, I hear Steamers asking 'WTH is going on??? How can a Blackjack kill my Timberwolf??' blah blah blah.

If you want a balanced game, call it what it is: Stompy Robots and stop trying to sell us a Battletech/Mechwarrior game. Get rid of the different techs and have one: weapons, engines, heat sinks. Even it across the board and you will stop all this whining.

I don't disagree with your earlier points at all. I am an old skool BT nerd, and it's why I picked up the game.

Good BJ pilots killing a new / bad TW pilot? I have no problem with that. How could we possibly have a balanced FPS style game where you couldn't do that? Any mech played to its strengths, and against another mechs weakness should win. That way it becomes a skill based matchup. As strong as the BJ is, lets not pretend its as strong as a TW on paper.

Clans were forced on PGI, I agree there would be less issues without them, but I hardly blame PGI for decisions that were forced on them.

Lore will and should always be sacrificed to create a balanced game. Without that, we'd have no players. Like it or not, we are at the best level of balance (IS mechs vs Clan mechs) we have yet seen and I am happy for it.

Liar... you are currently not in the Clan Ghost Sad panda... your (current) badge shows you to be in Clan sad Pu.... Oh yea... that grey cat would probably be blocked by the forum filter :P .

As for the rest of the post absolutely. There are more than enough OP clan mechs (with the fitting builds of course depending on what playstyle you want) to combine correctly for a really nice CW dropdeck it isnt funny. Just as there are so many OP IS mechs to combine for a good dropdeck. I really wish players would actually attempt to build mechs correctly instead of copy pasting them from mechspecs and co... If you need to do that, then for the love of whatever you believe in, at least think if the build fits your playstyle before selecting a build to copy instead of only looking which thread has the most stars.

Frankly I'm glad big mercs are back in clan space for the moment. (Though I would like to see big mercs lining up at opposite sides on a regular basis, I think everybody would win here with challenging matches on both sides) If there's one thing that can be said for units that switch between IS and clan regularly it's that they take a hard look at the advantages and disadvantages of each side's mechs, then foster their strengths to take advantage of the enemy's weaknesses. They're a prime example to the forum warriors that you can make your own fights, whichever side you're on. What's the saying? "Spend less time QQing, more time pewpewing." You might just find that you can win at this game without an I-win button.

MWO will never be balanced. Why? Because you can't balance mechs against the pilots skill. Pilot skill will always be the determining factor in a win or a loss not the build, not the mech, not the group, not the faction, not the map, not the play mode, and not even the hanging cockpit item. I'm sure the meta mentality groups disagree. I don't subscribe to the meta or play the flavor of the month. Because next month the meta will be something entirely different. Always has been, always will be the forever changing meta flavor of the month. Stick to practicing your killing skills which involve more strategy than mech builds. And until Russ, Paul and the rest of the MWO community realize that fact, the game will always be out of balance. All you have to do is look at how many pilots are playing clans vs how many pilots are playing IS. End of story.

I had heard that many of the top units from the Clan side switched over to IS. Would that explain why suddenly IS is winning matches? If so, that's not really a balance issue.

Timeless.

Exactly, timeless! That is, if you like to play BT or/and MW. If you dont, go play BSR (Big Stompy Robots)

Planning on doing Clan for a bit starting this weekend. Looking forward to a "challenge" by running the "underpowered" Clan mechs for a while.

Good Luck ;)
PS- Carefull with heat, its way worst than what you are used to; weapons dont go as far as IS; Balistics suck; Missiles Suck, If you use streaks, fire in chain fire, otherwise wont register; Mechs get destroyed way faster; OMNI pods are over-rated; But, besides all of this, you have clan XL engines ;) wich if you loose a torso, your mech will get alot more heat and it behaves as if is legged... but youre still alive ;)

Guess you could say its mwo hardmode. It def teaches you to be more cognizant of your mech status and rotating between shots.

First day of running clan mechs definitely felt like easy mode. The crazy dakka you can do with a Dire Whale just boggles the mind.

Funny to see Clanners crying like it's the end of the world and the game is over with now that Clan is on the losing end. You now know how IS felt for a year or more. Give it some time and they will swing the balance back, maybe this time in favor of both IS and Clan.

tl;dr: quit crying and give it some time.

THe Total Tonnage just needs to be dropped back under 250 for both sides and that would go a long way to making it a better time, that and a few structure quirks toned down on mechs like the Black Jacks.

Until the IS is under 200 tons you can't stop 4 Black jack drop decks kicking *** and taking names. :P

Sure it is. Top players and top units, gravitate to the best mechs to get the job done. Right now that's all IS all the time.

I agree damage should be same.clan advantage is less space,wt and better range(of course clan tech should still cause more heat)...my solution to even it out (for CW only) would be to use the unit coffers to buy cetain types of turrets and/or weapons for drop ships,if turret survives match ...you don't lose it..of course these items would be expensive because of the coffer build up sinc cw day 1...My other fix and which ruins the hard core cw mode(and yes It is gay gay gay)is the dumb *** stupid 30 min (rush, rush, rush, hurry It up mode.that's for deathmatch /puggin not for real MechWarrior.why everything gotta be a hurry it up lets rush and not enjoy the mech battle. I am a MechWarrior (like many other old school true fans and mech pilots) and I am here to MECH IT UP and enjoy the MechWarrior experience ,feel it, breathe it, live it.Hell I even use my real name in game. The stupid hurry rush time takes all that away.I play almost 24 /7 anyways so a decent long battle now and then would not bother me.I would rather have 3 or 4 good long worthy fights then 10 no enjoyable rush and hurry timed fights that are not really fun or satisfying. ,and if you dont bring the right deck(everyone in team)then forget it why waste or bother.thre are already too many hurry it up games and I play none of them...to my idea...make the time limit at least 1 full hour or just-remove it completely and let the real MechWarrior combat play out till its done,,no matter how long it takes.after all isn't cw real game mode/comp mode?some pay 500$ for mech sets so if they cant play an untimed battle then why would you pay so much just to rush an hurry.besides no on hides out in cw and not many places too hide like in pugging anyways. My 1 hour or no time limit would also let more diff mech types to be used more In cw ,they will be able to mesh instead of having meta drop decks(PGI might as well just have IS and Clan CW mode decks permanently made out for CW mode for most just use the certain cw mechs anyways.so all the new rides that come out are really useless for real cw mechpilots...Man I have been in some cw drops that would have turned around if not for the gay, gay gay time rush. I AM HERE TO BATTLE AGAINST OTHER WORTHY MECHWARRIORS!!!!!!!NOT BATTLE AGAINST THE CLOCK. PGI please junk the 30 min time limit or make it 1 hour atleast. I want unrushed battles so they can be enjoyed not just swallowed whole and fast without tasting the MECHNESS. Think about it PGI,are you not true mechwarriors as well?you bring MechWarrior back to life for its in your blood and soul as well. as long as its 30 min in cw ....cw will never truly work or be fun regardless of mods or quirks.you can only do so little or enjoy true mech battles against units and houses in under 30 min. make it 1 hour or eliminate the timer in cw altogether.you should patch that no cw time for a month and see how it goes.only then when not rushed will tactics and jedi archived type battles you read about in novels come true for the true mechwarriors. Thx all and if any others like this idea push this to the higher ups.I will rewrite this again proofreaded and send to PGI as well. Well I am gone..I got Mechwarriors I need to kill......

Well 228 is back IS, but once again other than a few mechs needing to be toned down structure wise, the balance is pretty darn close.
