I really hope that PGI, HBS, and Crisis Lab's(?? i know thats wrong, correct me) are cooperating more than just the art, PGI needs Jordan's input on the PvE Campaign Story line's, mission's, and all the Fluff that goes with it. The turns based and FPS games single player / coop games could benefit from each other's assets, and the PvP can benefit from those assets as well.

Then let Crisis Lab's(?? i know thats wrong) do the Areotech add on to MWO, and HBS's Battletech games

Ever notice that the two companies seem to be in cahoots? That Russ and Jordan I think are being very cagey on something.

I think that too, it HAS to.

I'm going to say that the progress for the bots in the Academy are probably a decent indication of when PGI is actually starting to develop any kind of PVE. I imagine it's very difficult, and pointless, to start working on PVE when the AI isn't capable of doing anything besides moving in a predetermined path, without torso twisting, while firing directly at your CT with 100% accuracy.

Furthermore, I figure it's pretty much a given that they're only working on one major project at a time. So until CW phase 3 is out, they're probably not working directly on PVE. After CW phase 3 is out, I'll be curious to see if their next step is PVE, CW phase 4 or Solaris. Or something else entirely?

It better not be anything but PVE after phase 3 in tired of developing time being wasted on CW.

Phase 3 will not save CW because the community is the issue. Yup there will be a bump in CW activity and then back to the wasteland it is now.

CW should be handled like Chromehounds war was, where you fight PVE or PVP and PVE opposition wins count for less. Of course in orders for that to happen in CW you need PVE to be done.

I'm not all that big on the single player aspect but I'm very interested in coop PVE. It could potentially bring back some of my friends to MWO that got bored of the usual grind.

Maybe it's boring, but it's still an accurate reflection of the communities faith in PGI. That said, a Single Player Experience was nothing that they ever promised from the start. If they find the where with all to do it, you know that they would make a bucket of money on it.

I did, years ago when he helped get the IP back from Microsoft for Russ.

That's kind of a huge clue.

So this means they are working on elements to potentially make a PVE mode...

I havent heard them actually WORKING on a PVE mode yet.

Again, two very different things.

Only if you don't know anything about project management or iterative processes.

They are not two "very differnt things" one is a project, one is a task.

My personal thoughts are that a single player game will pretty much kill of MWO.
All the people who whinge now about the multiplayer portion of the game will go play single player, most never to return and then the multiplayer portion will die off too.

If PGI knows whats good for them they wont release a single player game until Battletech is released.

I fail to see the downside as pvp is put into its rightful last place importance.

Wonder what happened to single player mode they were working on?

A single player campaign that immerses you in the politics, intrigue and military strategy of the Inner Sphere is what will make this game an actual BattleTech game. Right now it's a first-person shooter in 'mech skins.
