EDIT: of course it should read 'Banshee'

Like the laser/ballistic builds

Was thinking King Crab with 2 LPL + 3 X UAC5 58 kph

or Banshee 3E with 2 LL + 3 X AC5 60kph

I realize KK has slight dps edge. What else (torso mechanics, etc) might give the edge to either?

It comes down to your own personal playstyle. I prefer the banshees, but I've played the king crab and I like them. The banshee's have much higher weapon hard points then the K-crabs do, and are slightly more maneuverable. They are also much more tanky. Those gigantic shield arms can be used to block when you feel the damage you are giving out isn't outweighing the damage you are taking, the crab can't do that, if its arm is gone it loses a massive amount of firepower. The banshees also don't get as focused as the king crab does, enemies tend to shoot at king crabs more than they shoot at banshees. (personal experience having several hundred drops in Banshees). However, the crab can always "out-dakka" the banshee, and it runs some crazy powerful weapon combinations. It can do a lot of things the banshee can't, like run lrm boats (Not recommended.) and srms. It's also is very squat, and can hide behind certain pieces of cover more easily then the banshee. It also can run dual AC 20's if you're into that sort of thing. Also remember that the K-crabs torso makes it vulnerable to lrms (that giant disk like torso is basically an lrm landing pad.). One last thing to keep in mind is that the crabs main weapons are located in its arms, it can shoot up and down, the banshee's weapons are all torso mounted, which limits the up and down movement of the guns (very bad when trying to shoot that stupid locusts who's been pestering you for the whole match.).

Overall, it just depends on what you want. The banshee is tanky, but won't put out quite as much damage, and the crab has more weapons but won't last quite as long. You can't really go wrong with either, they are both fun mechs to pilot.
