I want to know if locking an deleting of threads is going to be the common thing around here. Example 1...

http://mwomercs.com/...e-all-you-want/

The post is about the guy defining mwo as an mmorpg.
MWO is exactly that but if a thread wants to say it is an RPG MMO PDQ or ASAP------
the thread should be left alone!
I read nothing racist or otherwise publicly offensive so why was it locked?
Why not just delete? Maybe ban the account?

I want to know why or I will just assume that police actions will happen at MWO without reason.

If I cant say what's on my mind even if others may not agree then this will be my last post or trip to the forums.

Basically it's just asking for a rake of people to come on & start arguing among themselves, and the longer it goes on, the nastier it gets.

That makes new people who come on think "sod this game, it's all about horrible internet-people being horrible to each other.

The same way you'd stop an argument in the back of your car when you're driving, even if one of the kids started off with a sound point, it's just not worth the aggro.

Spamming or Trolling

  • Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
  • Making non-constructive posts
  • Abusing the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages
  • Numbering a thread, IBTL, TLDR, or any other fad statements

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:[/color]
  • Be given a temporary or permanent ban from the forums, depending upon severity\
I believe that thread falls under "Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums.

That thread was a trap to get people to argue with him. Friendly debates are welcome, but to take such a defiant stand and tell everyone else they are wrong is a blatant attempt at making other users angry.

Perhaps some rewording of the thread, such as "Do you think MWO qualifies as a MMORPG" would have been a much better approach.

Discussing moderated posts/threads are against the forums rules as well.
So expect this thread to get locked/deleted soon.

To further support the case for locking, the thread was unlocked and here are some of the responses already:

"Who cares?I mean seriously.. isn't MECHWARRIOR what we're all here for? Who really cares whether it can be wedged into an "MMORPG" pigeonhole?"

"Holy crap, why would you CARE?!"

"you are a **** who has no idea what MMORPG stands for"

As you can already see, the angry posts have already begun by page 2. This is why these threads are locked and should probably stay locked.

Oh I do like these threads. Simply put The company owning the thread can do as they please and institute what ever rules they see fit to keep the community calm. To those that tout the idea of Freedom of Speech, and setting aside these companies are in Canada. Simply put the idea of Freedom of Speech only prevents the government from imposing laws that would limit a persons right to express them selves, with in limits.

This does not apply to private property, and forums are private property. So if they want to delete posts, as urksome as it is to us, they can since it is their property to do with as they please. :-)
