I made the mistake in asking the missus to help me choose a name for a character many years ago when i was having a mind blank, she jokingly said 'pain in the arse' and so i took the first 2 letters of those words and put them together!

I have used this for almost all my characters since, the only time it's not used is for alts on MMO's where you have to have different names.

Taken from my TT character name. First name was chosen arbitrairily, surname was a nod to one of the sponsoring merc corp names in Ralph Reed's "MechForce" for the Commodore Amiga. At some point it will be changing to my universal PvP nick "Bipper" (to lessen VOIP confusion) which also has its roots in Amiga gaming. This time however it was an original, but arbitrairily chosen nickname for one of my Dragon Force soldiers. If you've never played it, it was a great turn-based tactical combat game. As near as I can remember (bear in mind this was over 20 years ago), I derived it from the term "pipper" which is a term for the center bead on a predicted impact point gunsight. I was later told by my wife that the name appears in a Dr. Seuss book, one I had never read or been read.

The name itself started out as Kenshi Uchiha, due to at the time being a fan of Kenshi of mortal Kombat deadly alliance, and the sharingan ability of naruto. While i grew up and, out, of dumb ****, Kenshi's meaning roughly does mean (sword saint/Saint of the blade) which i like, as if i where to ever try melee combat i would like the katana. I dropped Uchiha cause really naruto was getting dumber and adopted my favorite animal and ironically clan, as my last name. In many stories he is Kenshi Yakato, with Wolf being his call sign or nickname depending on the source material. I did once try to write a fanfiction involoving the invasion where kenshi was driven from his home nation of kurita but it got dropped due to interest in mechwarrior dropping due to the hackers and poptart enthusiast of mercinaries 4, though i may pick it bakc up again some time in the near future

My monika comes from the old battledroid days, when we had cardboard figures and cardboard gameboards. I have used the name in all the battletech games, from board with lead figures to mechwarrior4. My character started as a farmboy after an argument left home to join the local agro mech farming lance all diesel engines and chainsaws. Well its a long story after so many years from scout mech pilot to lance leader and then company comander. Had fun doing the battles with my mates over the years and still remember the name (BUZZ) after the lasers that is his trademark.

Mine is the name of a character in a little story floating around in my head. I use it when I can and imagen her in whatever role she ends up in. If I could draw, a number of the characters from it would be on paper with mechs now.

I've been using variants of "Admiral" and "Cheese" in my screen names since middle school.

Why? Because my great uncle was an admiral, and cheese is delicious!

Ever since Unbound I've been going by DNI-Sniper in all the Mechwarrior games.
DNI stands for Direct Neural Interface, a system in which a Mechwarrior is directly connected to his mech and can receive much more accurate feedback via two interface ports on the sides of the head of the Mechwarrior in which two cords would connect to. These involved serious brain surgery to install however, this also caused the Mechwarrior to feel pain whenever his mech injured during combat.
There were also other drawbacks, but to me this system seemed really appealing, regardless of the side effects.

So I added DNI to my Favorite role.

It is my real name. In the last online game I played, I named my character after a girl I liked and then maxed out the character to do justice to her name.

This time, I play for myself.

Mine's an homage to the two Mechcommander games.

"Harrison" is the last name of a MechCommander who executed a brilliant ambush on Port Arthur against a Timber Wolf with a lance of light/med IS mechs in the intro video, also filled out a lot of the manual with tips and such.

"Kelly" is the last name of the Davion officer who sides with you and the partisans in MechCommander 2 against a Steiner-Liao alliance.

I put 'em together and liked how it sounds.

I'll copy paste what I wrote in another forum;

Quote

Bragging Rights: I came up with it myself.

The truth: I came up with it myself but I had help from a friend. Back in the days when World of Warcraft were glorious and people were getting killed inside-and outside of the Temple of the Three Winds of Anarchy Online - A new server were about to launch in WoW called 'The Defias Brotherhood', a RP-PvP Server. So I were trying to come up with an appropiate name for a Troll Rogue (later rolled into a Priest instead) and I really wanted her name to start on Z because I like that letter (I blame you, Sector Z). Less than five minutes later, the name Zeithri had been crafted.

The name has stuck with me ever since and became me.
