I've used this handle on the net and before the net, back on BBS's. I'm a b-tech TT fan, played the board game before the video games. Normally people don't recognize where my name. Had thought of changing it for MW:o because here it's not original in the least I figure, but my friends who joined my in CB knew me by this name so I stuck with it.

My name has a pretty simple story behind it. The story behind that story, though, gets a little more complicated.
But simply put it's my deviantART name reused for MWO. (Had I been thinking I had another name I could've used that would've been better suited to this environment, but oh well)

I occasionally tinker with writing fiction. A few times I try to compose intriguing names for characters. Jarvis Lancaster was composed looking for a sharp, dangerous sound for an antagonist. I briefly selected the faction based on what that character would have chosen, but decided to go in a different direction because really, it's only a name.

Also my go-to usernames had already been taken, and i refused to settle for a cool name followed by numbers because someone else got there first.

Mine is from the military. I kept getting called by the name on my profile, which is not my name. When I wouldn't respond the sergeants would go crazy until they would call out the last four of my social. I would in turn respond, 'Here sergeant!' Then I would get my *** reamed for not answering their calls sooner. Unfortunately, I kept the tradition going when I became a sergeant. :excl:

I made up my name because I wanted something believable that would never be taken and started with X.

Mine, well it took some thought. I found mechwarrior online just after the founders program ended and just watched videos on youtube or listened to NGNG podcasts. So for a few weeks I though do I want to play the game, then do I want to put time into it.

What name would be good. Something that represents me. Old army nicknames, call signs for my squads. Bear, Fuzzy Bear, Blade I went through and said no.

Barkem Squirrel came to me, but from being taught how to shoot Squirrels with a flint lock. You got to bark them squirrels. Some times this is for more shotgun squirrel hunters, but the one shot flintlocks have always appealed to me as a challenge.

So after seeing the invincible Ravens, jenners and commandos in late November 2012, I joined. My name representing a challenge, to bark'em squirrels. Then I bought a Raven 4X. If you can not barkem, join them.

Mine?

In MW4 I crushed everything that didn't walk on two legs.

Everything. Yes, even the ammo carriers.

Mine has a Tolkien background.

'Snaga' is orcish for a runty little orc.

And way back I saw a strange old LOTR movie that used this weird animation technique, and the orcs just walked/ran in a bit stuttering hunched over way, it almost looked like they were doing some kind of dance.

So clearly they were doing the Snaga Dance!

I use it on a good number of other forums etc. too, together with the older 'BAWTRM'. Since playing MWO I've learned from a Serbian player that Snaga means 'strong' in serbian. So I guess I'm also 'dancing strong'! ;)

Well, "Smitty" was taken. "Smittiferous" is a name an old friend made up (Our group back in the day all had odd nicknames, often ending in "iferous" or "oferous" eg. Dylan = Dyldoferous. We were bored, oft intoxicated on anything we could get our hands on. Don't judge me.)

I do dearly want to change it however. It's painful when people try to add me to their friends lists for teaming up on the TS servers. Either to "Smitti" or something a little more mechwarriory.

In high school I always wore a grey sweatshirt and was always with a group of my friends. So everyone started saying "There's that greywolf and his pack." The nickname stuck. The RF part is in relation to the fictitious merc company me and my friends created when we started playing battletech, The Red Fangz.

And I thought it was so it would look good in quotes! ;)

Also, CT-mounted missiles FTW!

Well, mine was a failed attempt to make up a Norse-ish name, but it turns out to be quite catchy. Also people could call me Helms for short. And that became my Internet name.

I use to be bigtime into House Kurita in my dice and pencil tabletop days so I chose Nakamura years back. The Takeshi part came from Takeshi Kitano my favorite Japanese Actor.

Later on I joined House Liao when I played Virtual World Battletech after I came to the East Coast, where they had players who joined the various Houses and play against each other.

I originally wanted "Anglachel" but it was already taken by some guy who doesn't even play, so I went with this. They're both weapons from LotR, Anglachel being the (sort of cursed) sword of Thingol, Beleg Strongbow, and Turin Turambar, in that order, and Dramborleg the Battleaxe of Tuor. Dramborleg was mentioned like once in an ancillary book that was published posthumously, so really it's not like the name has much significance.

I've been using my moniker as it is a variation of my own first name since I started playing Battletech in 1988 after the total badass Natasha Kerensky from the "Tales of the Black Widow Company" and Aleksandr Kerensky from the "Technical Readout 3025" and "The Star League" before FASA made the Clans.

Though, I did guess right that something was happening when they introduced "Technical Readout 2750" old technology and a year later firepower replaced strategy with the Clans.

Even though I am not a Clanner I keep the name "Kerensky" anytime I play Battletech/Mechwarrior because I like the name and I am an old foggie who doesn't care to change his stripes after so many years. ;)
