There is much of a difference between 1080p or 1440p compared to other Games.

You must clearly be doing something wrong because some like Lordred play it in ultra high resolutions and it works great.

Perhaps you are confusing it with the textures on the mechs. Some mechs have 2x textures and some only 0.5k textures. Thus it looks really washed out.

It looks blury on the texture edges more in native than in 1080p resolution.

Yeah, some mechs have really high resolution textures while others have terrible, low res textures. It also depends on which camo is equipped.

But texture resolution is unrelated to display resolution. The OP either doesn't understand what he's complaining about or is just doing a very poor job of explaining his issue, though. Screenshots would help.

Well there's certainly a good chunk of more pixels with 1440p
Don't know exactly what you mean originally

CryEngine supports any resolution natively
Doesn't mean the UI scales with it though

There's a certain stretching on the edges if you go ultra wide

Lastly
While saying MWO looks like DukeNukem3D (game from the 90's) is hyperbole, you're certainly right that it doesn't look that pretty/modern
Textures are not that high res, pop ups on rather small maps, list goes on

You might be able to get some better AA modes using Nvidia's injector
But the built in ones haven't exactly thrown me of my chair

Do you have motion blur turned on? That's specifically what motion blur is supposed to do (I'll never understand why anyone likes motion blur, or why its even an option)

I don't see the problem on my screen. If it doesn't show up in a screen shot then the issue isn't with the game engine or settings like motion blur, it's with how it's showing up on your display. Perhaps your monitor's GtG time isn't responsive enough and you are seeing ghosting.
