With the Hero sale, the funds I had available, and the fact I have a full garage of Vindicators, I decided to pick up a St. Ives Blue Vindicator.
(I also was thinking Grid Iron, but a football themed Hero just seemed wrong lol. Well, plus I figured the 4G (F) was good enough to fill my Hunchback needs). Besides, like I said in the title, I'm a masochist when it comes to MWO mechs.
I have looked at a few builds, but most seem to be posted around 2014. A lot has changed since then quirk wise and I was curious what people might be running in them now a days given the quirks. The quirks seem nice in the range and duration dept for energy and OK missile cooldown.
So I am curious, what do people like to run. Is it a good MPLaser/SRM brawler? Is it better as a fire support (5 JJs possible), is it a good quick LRM machine. I'm just curious what some people have come up with.
Here are just a few I was playing around with...

Anyway, I'm curious what some others are running in their St. Ives.

I have NEVER seen one in a match. Ever.
Good luck with it.

I go LPL cause it's instant damage practically.

I have seen one or two in the past few months. When they originally came out, I saw them in droves for about 2 weeks. Once people elited them, they just started disappearing. When the quirkening came, they were buried. This is one of the few heroes I don't own, but if I did I'd probably go with 2 LPLs and 2 SRM2s or SRM4s. Seems like it could be a decent medium brawler I guess.

I run mine, 2 LL, 1 ML, and 2 SRM6, with the largest XL I can fit.

i have one... its better now after the recent balance pass. it used to feel like a hvy.
i run it w/ a LPL in the RA. 2 ML. 2 ASRM4. and 230xl (if i remember right). i used to have a ppc instead of the LPL.
The best games i've had with it was when i decided to play 'sidekick' to an assault.

I've seen only 2 or 3 in game, total...in 2 years.
I basic only 1 and boy that was a long drag(my K/D took a nosedive that week), they have the armor of a super beefy light with the hitboxes of a medium.
It takes a special kind of crazy to ride one of those due to all this pinpoint nonsense, so good luck on all that.

I've settled on a poor man's 1AA for now. XL240 with 1 PPC, 1 LPLaser, and 1 MLaser and 5 JJs. I may change the PPC to an ERPPC once elited, but I'm not sure.
I could have equipped 2 LPLasers (and might still do that), but I love how a PPC looks on that right arm. It makes me wonder why the St. Ives doesn't have PPC quirks like all the other Vindicators? Heck, even the 1X has PPC quirks.
Anyway, the build seems OK. Still, part of me wishes I could make use of the SRMs for brawling, but honestly the Vindicator is not durable enough nor is the St. Ives fast enough to make that happen.
NOTE: Found another potential build I might like

I run the the SIB all the time. My main build is 3 ML, 2 ASRM6s with a STD 250. Shield with your arms, stick with the fatties and act as a flanker/strafer.
The other build I've been toying with is 2 ML, 2 ALRM10, TAG, and XL250. Obviously this one is a lot more map and group dependent but when it clicks, it's glorious.
I'm thinking of trying this build though: 2 LL, 2 LRM5, TAG and XL250. The idea again is to stick behind the fatties, lob missiles over their heads, and peak around them with the lasers.
It is definitely difficult to excel in the SIB, but it's also very satisfying to get the highest match score on your team in one of the worst hero mechs around. Doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's priceless.

I tried the 2 LLaser and 2 LRM5 build before, it was OK. I could definitely see the SIB being a good quick LRM machine.
On a side note, in my experience with Vindicators in general, they seem to be CT soft like the EBJ.. I do my best to torso twist, but I do seem to die a CT death about 80% of the time. I consider Vindicators to be XL friendly because of this. Just my observations.
